Locker Room Speech

Recommended Posts

I never, NEVER talk about this because its usually the same "rah rah" bullshit.  "hey guys, this guy did this" and "this guy did that".  Most of the time its just trash that no one really cares about....but there was something VERY different today.  "THIS IS YOUR TEAM!" "I tried to mess it up for you a couple times".  Those are the words of a GROWING coach and someone winning over the locker room.  Whether we like it or not, this team has rallied around him and our core.  Not sure what the rest of the season holds, but for the first time since the team bought in on Wilks, it feels like the team believes we're building something

It's a bought-in group of guys.  It's just an absolute rollercoaster because our offense is anywhere from league bottom to what you saw today.  I still can't quite get a sense of the build, but the players are giving us one hell of a story this season.  Every week is a new book.

It does feel like the guys are believing. If they want to be winners, it takes efforts like today.

I hope we never see another game like NO the rest of the season.

This is spot on! This is why multiple  people are cautious. Someone pointed out Bryce had his best game vs a top defense but fail to mention last week had his worst game vs a 30 something ranked defense. I like to see the team rally around him post game  but no way am I getting too hyped. 1 game at a time but good to be relevant for some weeks. We'd be talking draft only by this point usually.

Glad he realized what a mistake that Victory Monday was.  Team lacked focus all the way from that point to halftime of this game.  Not winning in a way that calls for a day off. WAY more work to do but there is growth in this young team. Loved that he called himself out for a few questionable coaching decisions. Great chemistry and relationships in this locker room.  Changing the culture of this franchise after years of mediocrity is no small accomplishment.

The great Bobby Bowden once said "first you lose big, then you lose close, then you win close, and finally you win big". Dare I say we are transitioning into stage 3?

Nah, not yet. All of our losses have been big

    • So true...look back at 2015 when we won 15 during the regular season and like half of those went down to the wire
    • Sounds like you’re just caping because I have already stated my intent when I posted.  Was it hyperbolic?  Sure.  But that’s what’s fun about this board.  I don’t need validation. I’ve been posting what I think, good or bad, for years.  In my everyday life, I speak my truth and stand on that.  I don’t care about validation, affirmation, or popularity.  I enjoy the discussion, good or bad. If you re-read, I didn’t say I’ve never seen a QB get stepped on.  I said I’ve never seen one, to the best of my memory, have that happen in that fashion on a 4th down and then lay there like the MedAlert lady.  And I said I brought up that play because again, how often do you see other QBs have that happen?  How often do you see QBs who are “super processors” decide to throw a ball out the back of an end zone on 4th and goal to go?  How often do you see them get squared up with a defender and fumble before even getting hit like a scared child?  He does poo that other QBs NEVER do.  Some have, but they don’t stick around for long.  The good ones NEVER do this poo.  And that’s the problem.  And again, yes, Zavala is a fuging chode and played his part in that play…  but I go back to Bryce and his limitations and this being an ongoing issue.  It’s like if it’s not him fuging up, someone will because Bryce is out there.
    • Amazing what happens when the starting qb goes out.
