Night before the game

I'd love to get the W tomorrow night with all eyes watching us. The timing of all of this is incredible and Bryce has a massive opportunity to elevate his identity in the league tomorrow night in a big way (as does the team). It's all lined up perfectly for him to show up and show the eff out but unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen because I don't think he's that dude. That said...fingers crossed! 🤞

I dont think this is going to be a defensive, low scoring game. We're going to have to score some points to keep it close. I think they will move the ball with ease between the 20s our defense will have to come up big in the red zone to have a chance at stopping their offense.

The Panthers have nothing to lose particularly with the Rams taking care of the Bucs

the pressure is why down

i say, take your shot Panthers.  No conservative bullshit. Play like it is fun

With the Bucs easy schedule ahead and our remaining schedule being the hardest in the league, I'd say every game is a must win for us. As long as they don't get more than a 2 game lead on us before we play them, we'll have a chance.

Niners allow 70% completion and have less sacks than our defense. We better win tomorrow because we're getting bent over a barrel next weekend

Our linebackers are really worrisome.  If we had even just one of Wallace or Rozeboom, I’d feel a lot better.  The fact we’re down those two and the Niners biggest strengths are guys that will usually be matched up with the backers in CMC and Kittle…  ehhhhh.😬  And people can say what they want about Purdy, but that damn dude is a problem.  He is wildly frustrating to play against when he gets going.  I’ve told people before, he may have a different frame and a lot better escapability and mobility, but in terms of making plays and anticipating throws, he’s as close to Brady as I’ve seen since.

I got a sneaky feeling we've got a stretch of QB play like the end of last year but with a better side

I am and have been a Bryce detractor, but I literally was thinking about this today.  As fun as it is to say “I was right,” as a Panthers fan, more than anything else, I want to win.  If Bryce could magically finally figure it all out and go on a legit, seemingly otherworldly run and we maximize our potential, I will happily eat all the crow that can be eaten and be ECSTATIC!

Thats true but the thing about it Rozeboom and Wallace weren't particularly great in coverage so it would have been an liability either way.

In the 2nd half of the Falcons game Cherelus had some good pass breakups.

Which Panthers team is showing up against the 49ers? The world beating, 400 yards passing Reaper Bryce team, or a team that looks like it was exposed to toxic levels of carbon dioxide on the plane ride to SF? Who knows? This team makes no sense and has zero consistency. The could score 0 points, or 30. No idea. And just when you write them off, they'll come out and dominate.

I don't have a great feeling about this game, but after last night I have a real good feeling about our chances to win the division. I think we might actually have a fair amount of wiggle room if Baker is out for an extended period of time, especially if he misses one or both of the games against us.

9-8 could very well win the NFC South this year. Hell, depending on how long Mayfield is out I wouldn't be shocked to see 8-9 win it.

    • Nobody is saying we don't need it, just that we have bigger needs elsewhere, and that type of WR is actually something that is often found in the mid rounds, you just have to scout and evaluate properly. Here's another way of looking at why WR in the 1st shouldn't even be considered an option. Looking only at players currently on the team, what position group would you feel strongest about 4 years from now? I'm not sure there is a better answer there than WR, as you have to think T-Mac is our best player on the team in 4 years (Brown is the only current player I think there is even an argument to be made over T-Mac there), with Coker not far behind. Our OL is too old to be considered, my opinions on Bryce is well known, Hubbard will be done by then and the rest of the RB is an unknown, Off-ball LB is maybe our biggest need, we only have 1 legit safety, it's certainly not TE, and our 2nd best CB right now will be 33 by then.   Brown should still be a beast as he'll only be 31, but nobody else on the DL projects to be that good in 4 years.  Edge rusher with Phillips, Scourton, and Princely is probably the only other possible answer than WR. So yes, that fast/shifty type of WR is 100% a need of ours, but we have so many other bigger needs both in the immediate and future, that to me, taking a WR in the 1st for the 3rd year in a row and having hit on another WR in the same time frame, just makes zero sense both currently and looking into the future.
    • Laughing at Slayton (Mooney or Calvin Austin III), but telling me that Coker is the next best thing since sliced bread...You laughing at Theo Johnson in reference to our guys too? LOL No one in their right mind thinks Nabers is anything but a stud (definitely top 10 if not 5 potential). You do realize that Thomas was in a new system with a furst-time coach last year (with a questionable QB to boot)? And yet still, it's possible that he eclipses even T-mac (not saying that he will). They didn't even mention Travis Hunter. In any event, we're not in the top half. Draft another legit receiver, and we will be.
    • Absolutely, very fair assessment of the team.
