It's crazy to think that when XL ends up being added to that bust list how long our WR misses will be.

TMac looks amazing though. I really hope he just continues to improve and be the outlier that we need.

Yea I think you know my feelings on XL and you are right the number of WR misses recently and even in the past by the Panthers is truly among the highest mistakes.

Again XL doesn't have to be a #1, that's Tmac and I think he's already there.....Just be a 16th ranked #2 guy, he should be able to do that....but it is getting past time. Bring XL into all the OTAs, mini, and TC and have the "talk"......."Listen your panther career has come to a fork and we need results". If no improvement, trade/cut.

Besides the guy nearly all us wanted- ladd..... the other drafted WRs around him are MUCH worst....Coleman has been a healthy scratch and not done much when active. Polk has already been traded or Id say given up on by Varbs and the pats....They got a 6th for Polk&7th, fodder at tits best. Maybe it was a bad year for WRs.....

Right now, XL is probably outside the top 100 NFL WR's. That is just not going to cut it.

He certainly could turn it around but our track record in this area is very well established. When our WR's bust, boy do they bust. XL looks exactly like so many of those cases.

XL has been the 9th most productive WR in that 2024 class and is likely to slip to 10th very soon as one of the guys who missed a large chunk of last season is about to pass him(Pearsall) in career production. That's not great for the 7th overall WR picked. It's a disappointment, without question. Even a the guy getting healthy scratches has still outperformed him so far.

And, for the record, it was a very, very productive WR class so far.

Let's hope XL has a good agent that can find another NFL team willing to trade for him in the off season.

I am not to the point of moving him yet, unless there is a valid replacement. I think that is something we need to move forward with. Once he reaches the Adonai Mitchell point of basically being pushed down the depth chart, then I would say to move him.

I mean... I haven't even looked at our roster lately but I doubt he sees the field offense given Coker's return. Still, it's undeniable he had chemistry with Bryce and at this point if we somehow have the room I'd take him back over Renfrow, who Bryce just hasn't been able to connect with.

Trade details re-visited:

Panthers-Vikings Adam Thielen trade details

Here's the full details of the trade:

  • Panthers received: 2026 5th-round pick, 2027 4th-round pick
  • Vikings received: conditional 2026 7th-round pick, 2027 5th-round pick

So, the Panthers flipped their seventh-round pick in next year's draft into a fifth-rounder and turned a 2027 fifth-round pick into a fourth-rounder.

All that for a guy who played 185 snaps over 11 games and caught just eight balls for the Vikings.

Rare Panthers "W" right there.

Carolina could do something absolutely hilarious and claim Thielen off waivers, which would really make this trade look even worse for Minnesota.

Granted, the Panthers certainly don't need Thielen and he likely wouldn't have a role much bigger than the one he had with the Vikings, but having the extra depth would not hurt Carolina's playoff push one bit.

What a massive win by our front office

I just find it funny that his wife posted a video of them two celebrating with their kids right after being traded.  Almost like they were hostages who got released from captivity. Adam Thielen can go kick rocks for all I care. We don’t need him.

To be fair, he was here at a REALLY bad time for this team.

    • I can't tell you what other's expect from him before they will start believing in him. I think for some, they will never be able to overcome his size. I think that is the fundemental problem for them which means they will never be happy with him behind center. For others, it seems he will have to be in the top 10% in pretty much every catagory and do that all seaon for them to start believing in him. Not everyone of course. There are people on this board that, while have doubts, can still acknowledge his good plays and are willing to give him another season. Those folks I would assume just want consistency - and wins. I could be off on all the above but that's kind of how I see it. And while you didn't ask, I will say I'm glad they picked up his 5th year option. He earned it. I do not think he should be signed to a long term contract yet. I do think he will develope in a franchise QB and will get the Panthers back into the playoffs and win them but I know I could be wrong. Next year will be the big test. If the offense continues to improve and they get back to the playoffs because of the offense, it will be time to sign him long term. If it's a repeat of this year, then it's time to look elsewhere for a QB. Like I said though, I believe he can be the guy so would be surprised if he doesn't make it.
    • Well since I am so biased, why don’t you tell us what he has to do to earn the trust of everyone that doubts him? If you say he has already done it, we really will never agree.
