it was a hell of a call, Bryce knew what was up as soon as the house came after him, 1v1 on the outside.  As I said, glad they didnt, but there was no reason for the bucs to not run prevent there, anything in the field and half is over, running man coverage and sellout blitz is just asking for bryce to take a shot in the endzone.

But that’s why I’m proud of them, bc the Bucs ran that bc of how we have historically played with Bryce.  They didn’t think we would look deep or take a shot at all, so if they pressured us, they could take us out of FG range with a sack waiting for something to develop underneath.  That’s what I and most of Bryce’s detractors have been waiting for.  Those shots are there, and teams play us so aggressively bc they knew in the past Bryce wouldn’t even look for it.  Not only did he look for it, but he made the line adjustment presnap when he saw the pressure coming and then took the shot.  Like you said, if you know it’s 1 on 1, give your guy a shot.  We gotta keep that same energy going.  If we can count on that element consistently, we are an excellent team.

Its not as crazy as you think..... they didn't think brycey would throw it

I think they were playing all out for the sack, which I can appreciate the gamble.

Sack = end of half. Try to throw it away with pressure in his face = pick 6 or grounding. Roughing the passer wouldn’t have been a big deal with such little time on the clock. Panthers hit a TD maybe 3 times out of 10 with that play.

That was bizzare by the Bucs. One on one with no safety help knowing that we would take a shot. Bryce couldn’t have handed it to him better. TMac made it look easy. Just beautiful

They have been looking back and being blind to TMac all game while reaching out and grabbing at TMac to slow him down because they know Bryce is throwing to a spot. TMac set the DB up and swung out of reach from the DB knowing he wouldn't look. That's how they're getting away with PI.

As soon as the DBs have to start playing TMac instead of playing the QB with PI, it's over because they can't single him while keeping the safeties focused on the run and routes over the middle. They will have to play TMac and not look at the QB or they will need to put a safety deep over the top of TMac. That will open up space for Rico, TEs and crossing receivers. Great adjustment by Canales.

Let's see if the DBs keep playing blind with PI on TMac

    • just read the thread. I would like to say that the team not being sold to Tepper is an absolute banger of an answer and probably the right one
    • "If you could change any one instant in Carolina Panther history, ... just ONE, ... what would it be? Initial gut reaction when I first thought of this question is Kasay kicks it in bounds on the kickoff, but unfortunately I still think New England wins that game even with that My second instinct was pulling Bene out before he breaks his leg in the playoffs. My crackpot theory is if he never gets hurt we win the superbowl. I refuse to go back and watch the game but at some point Peyton throw an absolute duck that should have been pick 6'd. but because we were on our like fifth outside corner he was slow to the ball. this would have completely flipped that game because I'm pretty sure Denver scored that drive and the next one was the Cam sack fumble
