Bryce's X-Factor

I was just thinking to myself how I'll know a lot about the gameplan by how we start, does Bryce let it fly etc. Then I remembered a thought I've had recently, Bryce could really do more damage with his scrambling ability.

There are a lot of times I notice Bryce if he committed to running would for sure get the first down, but he's still looking to pass. I think Bryce while not one of the great mobile QB's, can use it as a weapon and hurt a defense, he has had some impressive runs. This week where every possession is crucial, I think he needs to make his scrambling ability a true threat also, might open up the passing game a lot.

The problem with that is that we face a lot of stacked boxes and Bryce isn't an above average athlete as a QB. He can use his feet to buy more time to throw but he doesn't possess the ability to pull away from many defenders.

He is adept at recognizing when they drop deep in coverage and punishing for that but he isn't a true running QB.

I think our best chance tomorrow is to just go out there and play as aggressively as possible. Throw the ball downfield, run trick plays, blitz, go for it on 4th down a bunch, etc.

We're probably going to lose anyway; I'd just assume lose 48-6 playing to win than lose 28-10 playing conservatively.

Careful, that kind of thinking is what gets you a horrible flea flicker attempt from the Rams 10 yard line...

Maybe, but that's the nature of trick plays. In a more even matchup I'd say play ball control and drain the clock, but if we're going down we might as well go down swinging.

I still find it hard to believe that was the call. I gotta believe (for my own sanity) that that play was just Rico screwing up.
