I don't want to give the appearance that I and the Nostrah Dumbass of this board because I miss a lot when trying to analyze talent, but I was all over Coker before the draft.  I wanted the Panthers to take him on day 3.  When he did not get drafted, I started banging the drum for him.  Apparently, they agreed.  (All Hail, MHS!! All Hail).  I also thought we should have drafted a DT (Marcel Dareus) over Cam Newton and give Clausen another year to develop.  (Boo, MHS!!!, Boo to you!!!)  All that to humble myself.  

Coker is not blazing fast, but he runs good routes and has perhaps the best hands in the NFL.  I am tired of drops.  He is of high character---a guy you can support--unlike some of these other WR divas in the NFL.  

Lock him up long term-I am guessing a deal in the $10m range (after yesterday) would not be out of the question.  He had around 400 yards this season, so let's keep yesterday as a good game and not a coming-out.

We need a consistent deep threat, imo, an explosive WR with good hands.  Imagine that.  XL? Maybe its back to road kill and Dolla Bill.  Maybe this league was not meant for you.  Nothing wrong with giving it a shot, making some bank, and returning to your home.  Morgan?  Your worst move so far.  Learn from these "one hit wonders."

TMac and Coker are more than adequate for any young quarterback. As far as the group beyond them what exactly are people expecting?

At what point do people expect the #1 pick to begin to make his WR's better instead of the other way around?

That draft, if you recall, was before Fox's lame duck season.  It was the one draft when Marty Hurney was on his own without input.  I overheard Fox talking to Tergovac (I believe it was him--memory) and he was telling him "That's not an NFL QB."  Then he watched Armanti Edwards drop a simulated punt from the jugs machine, and he shook his head and walked off laughing sarcastically.  Hurney nabbed Clausen after two teams that desperately needed a QB passed on him--in rounds one AND two--and bragged that he stole a "top 10" QB.  He tried to trade away our first-rounder the following season to move up to pick #33 to grab him.  Then, rich with the draft capital he saved, traded up (later) for Armanti Edwards.  I read a rumor that the Colts bluffed him about their interest in Edwards and he took the bait.  Brandon Lafell in the third and I think he took headcase Hardy in the fifth or so that draft, with Eric Norwood (bust) in as our fourth rounder.

Hurney sucked.

I could argue that they need a deep threat, (and you could argue that both are) but I agree. The only reason Coker is not a bigger name is because they tried to develop XL.  But Horn is coming along (too soon?) Tremayne had 15 receptions on 19 targets for 160 yards--bottom of the roster quality.   If you step back, there are bigger needs on this team, like edge and LB

T-Mac was getting the primary coverage so Coker had opportunities that he capitalized on. That game isn’t even close without Coker. They need a speedy slot guy to compliment those two on the outside and the offense is gonna improve.

Coker looked amazing, but if I remember correctly he wasnt in the best game shape when camp started, which ultimately leading to him getting injured.  Hopefully that was a bit of a wakeup for him to take his health more seriously in the offseason  (and I have no doubt it will, guy seems like a pretty committed dude).

      They addressed D in free agency in a big way (Edge, ILB) and they signed a starting OT and a player they think could be a swing OT in reserve.  They have claimed to be adding "Weapons" to the offense.  I think that will be their focus.  I agree 100% that we need a T, but a reserve, developmental OT in a weak (at the top) draft does little to address that weakness in 2026.  If they are telling the truth, a reserve developmental OT is not a weapon.  The will draft a WR if that statement and their actions in free agency are accurate.  That does not mean we ignore OT--I just dont see where he takes a T if he is filling holes. As a coach, I am concerned about OT, but when I look at the roster, I see bigger immediate problems. S: We are OK if you want Scott for another season. Not ideal.  There is also talk of Smith-Wade being moved to S.  If so, we need a CBN. DT: Who took Robinson's job?  He played a lot.  All DTs (NT-DE) were average to below average, (except Derrick Brown) including 280 lb wharton.  We need a DT (my preference for the first pick, to be honest)  I am guessing a DT will be our third rounder? ILB:  Unless we want Wallace out there in coverage, we need a compliment to Lloyd.  I think Lloyd's starting mate is the second rounder. (speculating)  This pick is likely to occur in the second round because it is for a starting position. WR:  Some are fine with what we have.  sIn 2025, Coker had 3  TDs on 394 yards.  Legette had 3 TDs and 363 yards--and only 1 drop.  I love Coker, but neither should make us feel secure about WR with those numbers.  A lot depends on both stepping up in 2026, but Canales has been screaming weapons.  Could he mean Tight end?  That depends on how good they feel about Coker and XL. Center:  You can get a player ready to start relatively early in the middle rounds.  Very similar to the OT situation but I think C may be more of a priority right now than OT.   Tight End:  They seem to like Delp from Georgia who projects round 4. CB:  There was some talk of moving Smith-Wade to S (to learn for a season with Scott, maybe?) and that might require adding CB depth inside. Tackle?:  I agree that we need one, but this draft is simply not strong at the top at T.  The ONLY way to get a quality OT that is still developmental is to take one in round 1.  Canales has all but said we are not doing that.  But after the first 40 picks or so, they pretty much level out for a good while.  The fifth rounders and the third rounders are about the same.  For that Reason, I am guessing (It is all guesses) that they take someone like the OT from Boston College or Memphis.  Work with the OL coach (OT specialist) for a season.  I dunno
