Not sure that age has anything to do with it, as much as the specific injury and situation. No, we shouldn't give up on Ickey, but due to the nature of the injury and statistics regarding the ability to return to football and be as effective, we can't count on him either. What we can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

45.6% of players with that injury never return to NFL action. And nearly 80% of players didn't return within two seasons.

Those that do return, few return to their pre injury performance and most have much shorter careers.

This is not a player you pay, or trust to be available. 

He might come back in 2027, but I wouldn’t bet the season on him.

We need a replacement.

Nijman wasn’t terrible. But I wouldn’t describe his play as good either. I think he’s still best suited as a swing tackle off the bench. And unfortunately Brady Christiansen cannot be relied on given h injuries as well  

We should resign Nijman, but we need to bring in someone else either in free agency or the draft to give us an alternative in the event he doesn’t perform. Free agent options are pretty bad unless there are some surprise cuts, so the draft is probably our better option. 

With our overall needs, would be nice to shore up the defense in Round 1, but if the value that’s there is in a LT, I think you have to seriously consider that. If Ickey returns and can still be effective, I think you can move him or the new LT over to RT since Moton will likely be retiring in the next couple years.

Wonder how much money Icky lost off this injury. Sucks because it didn't even look bad when the injury happened.

Would be nice if he came recovered well and somehow could get a multiyear dear with him that is much cheaper than what he would have gotten pre-injury

For all intents and purposes he's done. He's at best a "maybe" to ever play a snap of football again for us or anyone else.

LT now has to be our top priority in the offseason.

I don’t want an OT at 19. Our o line has held up okay throughout injury. I think you sign Christensen and Nijman. If LT gets bad, put Moton on that side.

LB needs blue chip talent. I think we look for a tackle in the 3rd or 4th, in a addition to a flex center/guard.

Dan has done a good enough job on this roster we’re in a decent spot to just take BPA at any of our positions of need. I imagine we resign Nijman regardless

I had a serious knee injury that stretched ligaments and tendons but no tears miraculously. 30 years later it still isn't right and I'm a bigger guy. I've read about that surgery, damn, and I don't know how you intentionally keep that much weight on your body and trust that thing to hold up under the load of a full NFL season. It took years for me to trust mine and I still don't 100%, especially laterally.

If Styles isnt there I would absolutely look to trade and try and get a #1 for next year.  There are a ton of linebackers in this draft that you can snatch in the 2nd

LT in the 2nd.

I think OT jumps to top priority in the draft. That is a position that you must have great players at. Pass rushers can be found in every round. Also easier in free agency that OTs

I think there is some high end talent in this draft but the depth isnt really good.  Maybe one of the top guys falls who knows.    But it does seem to be a really strong LB group so thats in our favor
