It's pretty simple. It's about maximizing the non-football audience. The football fans are watching for the game. This one was specifically about maximizing the international audience. The halftime show and the overall media spectacle isn't about football.

If NE does go on to become the only team shutout in the Super Bowl it would be quite fitting given how much Vrabel and the Patriots have gone out of their way to portray him as such a tough culture setter.
