Extending a mediocre to average qb in the nfl basically kills your franchise for 5ish years if not more, but yeah thats not the flex he thought he had

We are going to exercise the fifth year option. I don't think we offer him an extension unless he improves in '26, which I do not think will happen.  That means new qb in '27 draft and hopefully a decent veteran too.

Of course. Extending Bryce would essentially be saying that we are not serious about winning a superbowl, which is another 5 years wasted of our lives watching a make a wish kid pretend to be an NFL QB.

I love fineserererererererer trade value in the 2021 draft, loved late 2nd on TMJ(whom was the best LSU WR before...) I loved the "steal" Nixon in the 5th, I thought he was a great DLman with off-field issue and big fall for him. 

Liked Smith in the 6th and same goes for brown, I thought they all would at least last the full rookie contract years. 

They were normal 5-7 round career, cut after 2 for some, PS for 2 years, bounced around teams like Phil "snacks".

 

I feel better about the talent level of this draft, same curse I feel all could stick around would getting a couple starters from rounds 4-7.

Anyway I might have something pretty insulting to say about the people who are happy about it, unless he truly earns it.

The best bet is somehow he plays well enough that the team is fun to watch but they don’t resign him, and we get a better QB 2027. It’s possible we could do worse in 27 but Bryce’s ceiling is so so so low.

This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board.

We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…) 

I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum

He so is far from being what people claimed he was.
 

What he was, is we hope and pray for consistently average in year 4. That’s what he is. 

We should just move on if that’s the best he can be.

I still seen way too many times when he gets to the end of his drop and looks like a deer in headlights. The dude has no idea what he is seeing (or can't see) and is scared to death of just letting it rip.

But if you see improvement.....

Problem is he had two good games against the Rams and people forget that the secondary was absolutely terrible hence all the offseason signings at DB. We have a 1st place schedule so we’ll find out. I would be very disappointed in an extension as a good OL and WR crew (if Brazzell works out) is going to be underperforming with Young.
