Good. Make him earn it on the field. He needs to be considerably better than he's been to even consider it. If he isn't, then his 5th year option needs to be spent fighting for his job against the QB we take in the top 10 next April.

I generally felt even our decision makers weren't foolish enough to actually do this. That would end up being an all time blunder that would follow everyone in the front office for the rest of their careers.

However we stil can't put it past them to jump the gun and begin negotiations late in the year if he has a couple of really good games while looking serviceable at best in others while the rest of the roster carries him. The concern remains that in their eyes "deserving" a contract extension means just not looking outright terrible.

This is all on Young.  He has been given everything he needs to succeed.  We have a pretty good offensive line, good running backs and some talented receivers.  We've improved our defense.  

He can't start out the season like he did against Jacksonville and Arizona.  

If he can't keep us competitive this season than it's time to move on.

I just wish we'd signed a competent backup. Pickett sucks and is as noodle armed as Bryce. Giving him $4M to pretend he's a legit backup was absurd. I wanted to sign someone who could legitimately push Bryce and give us someone to legit pivot to mid-season of Bryce needs benched again. The Panthers gave Pickett $4M to pretend he's that knowing full well he's not. That was a disappointing development.

I really think we weren't interested in spending the money it would take to get someone who could push Bryce.  They spent the FA money in other places

This is exactly what they did with Icky, I feel like yall be trying to read the tea leaves for information and the Panthers just be doing what they have always done.

I dont know know if Bryce is going to be the QB of the future but I know this right here aint going to give you the answer.

Kyler Murray and Tua both signed 1-year $1mil deals to be backuos.  Think about how bass-ackwards this is.

Yeah I never expected that bridge to be crossed this season. This offers me no real sigh of relief or anything like that   

I fhe earns it they will get that 2027 26.5 mil number down with an extension and if he doesn’t (and somehow they find their lost sanity) they will eat 26.5mil, probably spread out over 2 years.
