Rivera: " couldn't find a left tackle to fit what we do"?

List them...but I think that we have been down this road enough, right?

Drafting Justin Britt OT 2nd round.

Drafting Zach Fulton OG 5th round.

Drafting Seantrel Henderson OT 6th round.

These 3 instead of Kony Ealy, Tre Boston, and Tyler Gaffney.

Those moves alone would have made a world of difference.

Gotta look a little deeper.

CJ is very very expensive, and after this season can easily be cut for some serious cap savings. His contract, age, and current production don't look good for him in a Panthers uni after this season.

DG knew that Hardy had a screw loose, and decided to give him another year to see if he could keep his nose clean to give him a long term deal. In the long run, the tag may help us, it's just hurting this season.

You just don't let one of the best pass rushers walk away, however his off field actions may make us do just that.

A little deeper....even before the domestic violence charge Hardy was viewed as a risky guy to pay big bucks too.

We let Peppers walk.....

Dallas let Ware walk.....

Lions will let Suh walk

It happens.

DG told you it was going to be ugly for at least 2 seasons.

Do you take him as a liar?

This is the point that needs to be taken from every convo about personnel. Gameplan is a different story but personnel problems of this squad are due to one guy...Marty Hurney.

80 million is not a small price tag for a bunch of mediocre running backs who can't stay healthy. That's the cost for a franchise left tackle and Hurney just made terrible decisions.

I hear you & understand the RB issues, but I am tired of the Panthers using the salary cap as an excuse.  Every other NFL team has the same salary cap, and every NFL has made stupid decisions too.  The Panthers aren't the only ones that made bad deals & contracts. They need to fix it and start getting quality players in to protect & support their franchise QB.

I think it's more than just bad contracts that put the Panthers in this o-line mess.  And we might as well include the secondary too.  The Panthers have a strategy of building through the draft.  This strategy works only if the team drafts well, and unfortunately the Panthers have not.

For example:  The draft for 2008 - 2011 was pretty weak, and I believe severely hurting the Panthers today.  In those 5-years the Panthers drafted 41 players, but only 3 players remain on the team (Hardy, Stewart, and Cam).  And Hardy will be gone after this season, and Stewart probably should have been gone instead of being signed to the big contract since we had Williams signed.

Yes invest in the OL but also invest in OC that understands what his players can do, and put them in position to do it.

Some of the calls are just out right mind boggling giving the state of that line

Throw the damned ball on first and 10 and keep, doing it until they stop it..m routes to keep, those chains moving and keep Newton from being killed in obvious pass situations

I'm talking u right now, Shula comes out with those screens they will be blown up and result in pic sixes. They are so bloody obvious

Rivera and Gettlemen spent hours sifting through all the defensive tackles on madden to see if there was one who's blocker rating was high enough to converter them to LT. However things didn't work out so here we are.

The time to plan for this was the offseason. Instead Gettleman did nothing to upgrade the O-line, not even signing any cheap depth players, so here we are.

    • He has a lot to work on for sure but he has been a huge boost to the offense. It's nice to finally have an elite WR.
    • We have been on that roller coaster ride already. He needs to have streaks far longer than a couple of good games.  People raved about the Green Bay game in 2023. Which was mostly a good 2nd half and hot 4th quarter.  Ask me what happened the next four games, if you don’t remember. or just go look them up. There isn’t much to see.  The end of last year had some good things and one excellent outing, and look up what followed that, which you won’t have to but he came out this year looking like week 1 2023.  Now he is on a game and a half streak, against a bad Miami team and lowest rated defense in the league - at home.  This is the reality in the big picture. He needs to break his pattern, in a positive way.
    • This "noodle arm" characterization just baffles me. There's way more involved in a successful downfield passing attack than simple air yards. Let's take two stat-lines for throws of 40+ air yards (no YAC) from the last 3 seasons: 5/29 (17%) for 3 TDs and 2 INTs 1/9 (11%) for 1 TD So with three times the number of attempts, you net +6% completion percentage, the same TD rate, and 2 arm punt INTs to boot. The first player is Mahomes, the second is Bryce. Clearly Bryce attempts these throws at a much lower rate, but his success rate is quite similar to one of the most talented downfield throwers of all time. The takeaway isn't that Bryce is Mahomes-lite (if he was his usage rate for these would be much higher) but that these throws by their very nature are extremely difficult, very scheme-specific, and even an elite thrower can have wildly differing success rates season by season. And before we get into the complaints of cherry-picking, this is far more substantial information than the various insinuations that Bryce struggles to even get the ball 20 yards downfield, much less 40+. And the wildest part of this is that every time Mahomes threw a bomb over the last 3 season, 83% of the time the end result was failure, yet many Chiefs fans complain that he isn't taking even more shots downfield.
