Rivera on speculation Avant was released because of Sunday comments:

“That has nothing to do with it, and that has to stop right here.”

1) Either he knew and he cut him because of the comments

2) He didn't know and he cut him

3) He did know and he was planning to cut him anyway

All three options suggest RR has lost control of his emotions or his team, or both.

What did Avant say anyway? Back to the topic, Rivera is really not fit to be a head coach. I am sure he is a good guy and good DC but he is over his head. Seems like he has a disconnect with the personel or what is going on when offense is out there. He takes forever to make roster moves (ie. Godfrey, etc) It really appears he gets his notes ffor his press conference from espn or something because it was been known that our WR was not getting seperation yet you let your star QB get destroyed and take the blame...

""I’ve been in the league a long time," Avant said. "I know two things. You never want to give a team a chance to win a game, with how much time was left on the clock. And asking a kicker to make a 50-yard field goal with the game on the line is rough sledding."

I'm literally amazed he said that. Unreal.

Are you really that surprised?  He's the same guy that said Cam wasn't injured after getting sacked 9 times and getting hit almost every play on Monday Night Football, refuses to play Stephen Hill to run deep routes to utilize Cam's strength in throwing the deep ball, oh and lest we forget that game against the Saints in 2011 where he called a timeout with the clock running down just before halftime and allowed the Saints to kick a field goal because he thought the special teams unit was lined up wrong and might have been penalized.  Great D-Coordinator, awful head coach.

    • I hope you understand that this Anti Bryce thing as you call it is really a pro Panthers thing. I think I can safely use we. We want the best for the Panthers.  As far as this other post saying ‘Anti’ Bryce people do misinformation.. you mean like going all in on “Renfro should have caught” that poorly thrown ball? I guess it was week 1. And calling it a drop. Comical btw.  I wonder, did you call that out or let it slide because it aligned with your agenda?
    • These are great posts with the comparisons and the numbers.   I haven’t lookyat Smity’s numbers since probably the first time he was on the ballot.  But if you watched every week you know what he is. Whatever his yardage or targets numbers were.  He was fuging dominant. I have watched since the AFL days and seen who there is to see. There are many great WRs over the years. GREAT WRs. Smitty is up there in the game of football.
    • Smith is clear cut HOF if you judge what he did by reception. Fitzgerald was a stat padder.    The most Steve Smith was ever targeted in his career was in 2005 (150 targets). The same year he wins the triple crown.    Larry Fitzgerald was targeted more than 150 times over 9 separate seasons. Not once eclipsing 1500 yards in a season.    The over glazing of Larry Fitzgerald going around is way over blown. ARZ was top 10 in passing attempts nearly his entire prime. Steve Smith and Andre Johnson had it far worse and would have surpassed his #s in the same situation.
