Percy Harvin

Harvin is an electric player at times, but he is also a diva that wants too much money. He can be a match-up nightmare, but doesn't seem like a team guy, inasmuch as doing what it takes happily on the field---including taking a backseat when the coaches deem necessary. The Jets probably aren't going to want to pay him $10 mil per year, that's why there is the expectation that he will be cut. I don't see him wanting to take the $7 mil (max) that we would probably offer him, so Harvin is not in the cards.

Its rumoured that the panthers released some one last off season because he has attitude problems. If the rumour is true no way they would go near this.

No.

God no.

A year or two ago I would've said yes but there's a reason the Seahawks cut ties with him.

He's terrible for a locker room.

agreed. Harvin has the talent to play but has not yet shown that he can be a positive influence in the locker room and neither has he shown that he can stay healthy with any sense of regularity.

talent vs. injury-prone locker room cancer? seems like a clear choice to me.

Harvin is better than every offensive player we have not named, Cam, Greg, or Kelvin. If his price is reasonable you sign him. Upgrades WR #2 and revitalizes our return game. Would be a waste not to bring him in if available and a reasonable deal can be struck. Seattle cut him due to him wanting to be more involved, Jets releasing due to price and they're re-building.

We have the QB and at times the imaginative offense that should be able to utilize a skill set like that. To the posters passing him off as if Philly Brown is better, or Cotchery is better need to be examined. He'd be the most explosive player on the team since we released Steve Smith. News flash most WR's are divas it comes with the position long as he stays out of trouble (which I believe he has throughout his career) we could use him.

I could see bringing him in, unless Ginn is released. If Arizona drops Ginn I'd fully expect him to return. 7 mil tho? I don't know about that. If we can bring him in on the cheap.....someone else will pay more. He is explosive, I'd love to have him. Don't see it happening tho.

There is a reason teams keep cutting him.

He is always injured and is a cancer in the locker room. No matter the talent, you do NOT want guys like him on your team.

It's been said before but I'll say or again. Harvin is a utility player and we do not run a gimmick offense. He isn't even that great of a receiver.

He will either go to GB, Oak, or Dolphins.

I guess that you are assuming that Mike Wallace is gone.  Can you imagine a team with Harvin and Wallace?  I would love to see it for its entertainment value (and I'm not talking on the field), but it will never happen.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
