Will Wegher get any time with the ones?

Wegher played crappy last night and it wasn't all the lines fault. He slipped and fell more than once with little or no contact. Sure the pass in the flats was thrown slightly behind him but he got his hands on it and bobbled it 3 times before it dribbled out of bounds. How many times did he actually run through a tackle and not go down at first contact. Sure the line did him no favors but he didn't do himself any favors either. Honestly I doubt he earned any time with the 1s.

When first contact is behind the line of scrimmage not much anyone could do not named Barry Sanders. O line played like crap last night! I think both CAP and Weg will get a shot with the ones next preseason game. Both will get a shot to show what they can do for us or another team.

The way Wegher played last night was almost certainly an indictment on the offensive line.

Does anyone have a give of the guard getting absolutely mauled on that blitz by the Ravens? That had to be the worst i've seen since watching Nate Chandler getting literally picked up and carried backwards against the Eagles two seasons ago.

No, he had 1 slip. The rest was awful line play. Fight me in real lyfe.

Stewart isn't going to be around forever, so knowing whether Cap or Wegner can be adequate successors is something we should figure out. They should both get enough looks with the first unit because if neither can produce in the best of conditions, then the answer for our next running back is definitely not on this roster. I'm not trying to discount Fozzy, btw, but I see him more as backup material with limited upside.

Will Wegher get any time in with an actual nfl caliber offensive line, or nah?

Could the plan be to keep him out if it and out of the national spotlight, increasing the likelihood of a practice squad landing?

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
