Shula takes blame for lack of KB targets

Yes. Imagine the things he'd come up with if he had more control. Shula was good for Cam during this phase but I think his time has come. Cam obviously knows this, hence the frustration.

It simply is a product is we allowed ourselves to get into the same issues the Super Bowl presented.

We needed the week 1 gameplan to counter Minny.  Cam was too far pack in the pocket and the green dog blitz overwhelmed us.

Inside routes like slants, deep slants and digs are the easiest throws in the tree. 3 steps and then let it go. Not only did they give it to us most of the game, CBs can't stop KB or Funchess on those routes alone. The defense would have to counter with LB help or just stay in zone, meaning they wouldn't be able to blitz as much.

I don't know. Seems kinda simple to me. But so did chipping Von Miller in the Super Bowl. So what do I know?

Just like Rivera, Shula knows his job is safe and knows it is easy to take the heat and deflect from the players. That is why our staff is so player friendly.

From what I saw surveying the field at the game. KB had single coverage most of the second half in first and second down especially.

But we only throw on third downs... and then only for 30+ yards.

I can't stop thinking about why we were so quick to abandon the run game.  Cam even mentioned it in the post game presser, saying, “We were running the football extremely well, keeping them off balance and then all of a sudden, after the safety it was good riddance.”

We can't, and won't be an effective offense, without the run game.  No, it's not because "all we run is long routes 25 yards down the field."  It's because we run a Coryell style offense, and you can't successfully have one, without the other.  They have to both be present.

There's no magical adjustment that Minnesota had to make.  They just saw that we pretty much quit running the ball, and starting focusing on the pass rush.  There was no threat to take them out of that mode.

Also, and this an aside to the Minnesota game, but Fozzy may be a back that we should start giving more touches.  Not saying as the bell cow, but most definitely more than 4-5 carries per game would probably be a good thing.  He's averaging 5.92 YPC on the year.  Take out the monster game against the 49ers(6.3 YPC), and he's still averaging 5.33 YPC.  He's very explosive, and getting him involved more often, is just another wrinkle that defenses have to worry about.  5 carries doesn't worry them.  Just an after thought...

Frustration was in there. Why did Shula decide to stop running? He's such an offensive guru...they say.

I'd like if they would stop worrying about how much "rest" the defense gets and just go full no huddle get to the line and let Cam make on the fly adjustments...you can bleed the play clock from the line and it's when Cam is at his best plus it solves the delay of game issues we've been having...it's almost like shula changes his mind mid sentence and keeps us in the huddle trying to decide

This is one of the biggest problems with the team

Yea it's like you say no huddle and people automatically assume hurry up....no huddle for us would allow cam to survey at the line instead of having to adjust from shulas idiot calls with 7 secs left on the play clock and keeps the defense on its toes making it harder to adjust to our sets that Jeremy said the Vikings were literally calling out pre snap. You can bleed the clock from the line so you aren't "tiring out" your defense as so many on here suggest

Just a thought guys. Do you think Shula showed move Benjamin around more (ex: switch sides off the field, put him in the slot) to get better matchups?

yes and get him in shorter patterns. Cam need a big guy catching the ball.

So Mike has stepped up and accepted blame for KB basically being a non-factor yesterday, said he should have got him more touches even though he was seeing double teams...

Was wondering if he was going to accept blame for not changing up the game plan when it was clearly evident to the blind guy in the nose bleed seats that it wasn't working.

so where is the play calling to allow Cam to make audibles?? Or we back to Shula Ball?
