What happened to Funchess?

I remember last night that Funchess was in the slot and beat his man by 5 yards on a crossing route but DA decides to target Greg that is being blanketed by a S. Funchess would have been running for miles. I hope he does not get frustrated and check out but I feel the team is stunting his growth. I feel like he and Shaq Thompson are in the same boat, I see them make a big play then they are subbed out for the rest of the series.

disagree about Shaq.  At least through games 1 - 4 his snaps were increasing every game.  Haven't looked at last night's snap counts yet...

Funchess is not even getting looks. It's either olsen or KB on every throw. Plus Ginn being the other starting receiver doesn't help. So he is only getting so many snaps since we only like 3 receiver sets anyway and forcing the run game. I have said for the longest this is a passing team that wants to force the run and it's turned  into a poo storm. That's all coaching.

Actually, not true in some of the earlier games, he had tons of snaps but very few targets.

I'm concerned that we're not spreading the ball around.  Don't seem to be throwing much to Funch or Brown, and not much to Ginn in the past 2 weeks either.  I'll try to post updated receiving targets & receptions tables later today if I can find a bit of time / energy

I was definitely exaggerating but yes, I agree.

Nothing has happened to Funch, he's been open in multiple games and on multiple possessions. Who is Cam and DA throwing or should I say forcing the ball to consistently? KB and Olsen. Either the QB are locking onto a few guys or the coaches are not calling plays designed for the other WR.

For Shaq it simply has to do with the offensive personnel on the field. We can't play 3 LB's against 3 and 4 WR offensive sets. The only way to keep Shaq on the field in that scenario is to sub out TD which might actually be a conversation worth having as it looks like father time is finally starting to catch up with him.

I love Shaq, but anyone with sense saw this coming when the Panthers picked him.

I'm thinking this is it for TD(this season).  Will be a very sad day, but necessary.  I honestly don't think Shaq will miss a beat when he steps in though.

    • Jesus my man. Save some of the ball busting for hockey hahaha
    • Don't think your comparisons are germaine. Teddy and Bryce are nothing alike. And no I am not always right  or  wrong but the difference is I let the experts inform me and follow those who do know. And after all the constant wrong takes you go on and on about just like this one, I don't feel like we are kindred souls or like minded. I will be glad to compare my takes versus yours anytime.  And have no clue what you are talking about regarding stern lectures. But I can see around here if you take a constant negative approach to everything you get a lot of support and given our track record you may be right about some things. I don't live my life that way nor do I constant like to complain like you.
    • Never, and it doesn't have to be an old grizzled vet, sometimes a vet can learn something from a young player too.   Do you not see players talking to each other between plays, quarters, on the bench, wherever, in EVERY sport? It's what players do, especially the great ones, they're always working on their craft and learning tips from others to better themselves.   So when your entire receiving room outside of one player, who has mostly played special teams in his career, has played 1 season or less in the NFL, it's not a lot of experience there in the locker room and on the sideline and is a tad concerning in regards to the proper growth of all these young WRs with great potential.
