The best lineman in Panthers history

Is there anyone else in contention other than these two?

No. Wharton was really solid in almost every position along the line for a long time here but his play was never near the level of those two. Nobody early is in the discussion. Norwell could’ve been if he stayed here and continued to play as well as he did.

I'd say Wharton is the most underappreciated lineman we ever had.

Don't forget that Gross played more than one position along the O-line. I believe, if one were to research individual game logs, that Gross might have played every position on the O-line except center. May have been situational or the result of a minor injury, but I think he played both tackle and guard positions.

And yes, Wharton was a an outstanding lineman for this team.

Id vote for gross.

For the record, he did move from RT to LT to RT a few times.

I always thought Kalil was overrated even during his pro bowl years. I will say he was the best pulling C for a good while and highly athletic for the position.

As Gross's biggest fan for most of his career here (it still amazes many how many fans finally came around toward the end of and after his career)....

It amazes me how many undervalue the center position. And how much of a role Kalil has had on being the glue of the oline, not just the best center the Panthers have ever had. I wish the Panthers had a LT as good at his position, as Kalil is being a center.

Gross has been the best offensive tackle with the longest career as a Panther. That doesn't automatically make him the best lineman to ever wear black and blue.

Kalil.
