When was your first Panthers game?

2nd or 3rd season, we played the Raiders. Standing on the concourse smoking a cigarette, beside a huge dude with full Raiders gear- face paint, spiked pads, everything- when we got an interception. I yelled "WOOHOO!!!!", and then looked at that guy. Pretty sure I cheated death that day.

Maybe 2008-2009 season against a division rival. My future wife bought me tickets as a surprise for my birthday. I was a fan since 2001 but was extremely poor in my early 20’s and couldn’t afford tickets. I just remember it being extremely surreal to actually be in the stadium I saw so many times on TV. I was also blown away by how fast the players look in person.

Side note: In ‘95, on their road trip to Clemson, the 49ers came to practice at my HS in Greenville my freshman year. We got to hang out and practice with them for a bit. Brent Jones worked with our TE group. That was freaking cooler than hell. One of several reasons I grew so passionate about football over the next 25 years.

I was pretty young but it was down in Clemson.  They had a magician unveil a real Panther in a cage at the game, that's all I can remember.  Remember more from our first year at Ericsson and the Cowboys playoff game.  Got Marc Carrier's signature on a grey Panther's ball.

1996 Rams game halfway though the season. I'm not even 100% sure of that. It was fun.

But my favorite game was when Jake came in at halftime down 17-0 to the jags. My wife's company at the time got us into the box for my only time ever. Which had me pumped. Except it was all grabassing corporate politics which was fine for a while given the free beer. At halftime I and my wife and two other guys who just wanted to watch the game threw the windows open and sat up front. They announced Jake at halftime and the crowd cheered (Rodney Peete was kind of done). It was the best game.

For the next couple of months I bought begged and borrowed tickets mostly way up top and Jake was magic. I took a job overseas late but watched the playoffs and superbowl with fellow fans in another country. That was when I knew I would get PSLs whenever i moved back which i did in 2010.

But 1996 Rams to answer the question.

Following the Panthers from the south coast of Ireland since 2002, will finally get my first game in London this coming October. Have tried to get over to Charlotte a few times in the last couple of years, and there was even a stage that work could have taken me there, but things have just never lined up unfortunately. Really can't wait, just 6 months to go!

Proud to say I was at first ever game in Death Valley, preseason against the Broncos.  Also went later that season when they played the Saints, sat on the grassy hill drinking beers in the October heat, then drove straight to ATL thinking we could get into the Braves Indians World Series game that night.  Ended up drinking in a downtown ATL bar instead and drove all the way back to Charlotte afterwards.  Still don’t know how I made it home.

Oh to be young and stupid again.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
