Yep. I still think we ultimately add another safety regardless, even if it comes at final cuts, but the team obviously wants Gaulden to win the job and is giving him every chance to

    What is the deal with Boston? I’m seriously asking. Bad Teammate? A-hole? Why can’t this guy ever get signed? By anyone? Did I miss something he did. I still don’t understand why we just cut him. And no team will keep him. 

  At this point, he’s not getting more than 2M. If Gaulden can play, you still have a quality backup who can play both S positions.

If we sign McCoy will there be any money left for Boston?  If Gaulden fails, as one would expect, him not being a safety and all, then maybe they'll bring Tre.

I doubt it. McCoy will want something around 10-11 Mil/year but might take a discount since we'll be playing Tampa twice, so possibly around 7-8 Mil/year? Problem is after the June 1st cut, we'll have just over 19 Mil in cap space & we still haven't signed Brian Burns (2 Mil?) or Greg Little (1.5 Mil?) yet. That's at least 3.5 Mil worth.

Boston will ask for around 2-3 Mil. No thanks.

I’ll take the solid aging vet safety during cuts over him. I say give Rahsaan Gaulden a shot and have a vet as depth.

I read on the Chargers reddit that he is just hard to coach. He doesnt listen well, and seems to play cocky on the field.

He will eventually get a helmet but it will not be a lucrative contract.  He is a competent veteran but not a star and not worth a huge contract unless some team has crazy cap space (see the funchess deal in Indy)
