My Ron opinion this year..

WOW!!

Recommended Posts

I got a strong feeling the defense is going to be at it's best.. Not just for added talent and new scheme.. IMO I feel Ron is finally comfortable enough to leave the offense completely in the hands of Norv and concentrate and innovate on his new defense..

I think Norv being here will not only help the offense but also help the Defense by keeping Ron in that defensive room..

Brief History...

Jmo I think Ron gave total control of the offense to Chudd his 2nd year.. After Chudd orchestrated a offense scoring 30 points a game with a rookie QB and a jump from worst offense the year before to top 5.. Who wouldn't?? But he got burned by Chudd using that season as a audition for a Head coaching job himself.. Chudd decided to forget the RB's or running the ball in general and gimmicked the whole thing trying to show how innovative he was.. Almost cost Ron his job..

Every since then you can see ROn conservative finger prints on Shula playcalling and him splitting his time from the defense.. Giving more autonomy to his defensive coordinator.. (2 got head coaching jobs)... He never trusted Shula with full control and you could see it..

ENTER NORV..

Now Norv is here and you could see a change during the end of last season (also Washington was fuging up) Ron concentrating on the defense and play calling and not worried about the offense..

Jmo .. With Ron able to trust his offensive Coordinator.. Our Defense is going to finally get his full attention.. Meaning better playcalling and way more innovation.. This could be a really strong/ game changing year for the Panthers defense..

I hope this is exactly what happens.

It's an interesting theory but the 2012 team had more rushing  attempts by running backs than the 2011 team while the total number of offensive plays was lower.

My bad I meant that Chudd went away from the basic lining up under the center in basic I or power and weak traps, counters and dives to more Gimmicked shotgun sweeps and reverses and misdirection plays..

I think it’s a very good theory. I still don’t like Ron as our coach, but if he can get this defense playing like it should on paper and let norv handle the offense without ron’s bs conservative influence, there’s no reason beyond cam’s health we shouldn’t be in the super bowl this year.  If all of the above plays out I’ll reevaluate my opinion on Ron staying then.

A lot of credit should go to Turner, who is a master of offense. But I think we should also give credit to Dave Tepper, who has taken the place of JR and actually wants to win instead of being buddies with the vets.

Ron will be coaching for his job this year. He knows Tepper won’t accept mediocrity like JR did. Biggest reason why I think we have a top 5 defense this year.

You can’t convince me that Ron has ever had concentration on the offense other than keeping them from scoring quickly.

He sure as hell accepted it last year.

    • WR: Nico, Woods, Tank (R) TE: Schultz OL: Tunsil/Howard/Deiter/Mason/Fant vs. WR: Chark, Thielen, Mingo (R) TE: Hurst OL: Icky/Zavala (R)/Bozeman/Jensen (R)/Moton   Panthers' had the better OL before losing BC week 1 and AC week 4 which is kind of ironic considering how in the following year DB went down in W1 and Shaq in W4 resulting in the defense going all to Hell. CJ has done amazing in Houston, but he also wasn't asked to carry Zavala, Jensen, Mingo, Hurst, and Chark as a rookie.
    • Past 5 seasons, IMO CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow are the 2 best young QBs that have emerged in the league in that window.  They also didn’t need vets to be their primary pass catchers.  They helped fellow youngsters be great at WR.   almost all the other young QBs have been paired up with vets in their top options….and haven’t been as promising.  so it isn’t Madden.  But the league hasn’t played out as you suggest it does.   Good QBs make others around them better.
    • In 2023 their roster wasn’t stacked. They nailed the poo out of the 2023 draft and since they knew Davis Mills wasn’t the guy, they tanked properly to get pick 2. They also took Cleveland’s ridiculous offer for Watson unlike us with Burns. Houston received enough draft capital to jump up to 3 while picking up the right guys in Anderson and Stroud. The Texans were not stacked or better than us in 2023. They had 11 total wins from 2020 to 2022. They didn’t have a terrible front office so they made sure they got their QB of the future while tanking well and getting more draft picks. They are a textbook study of what we should have done in 2022/2023 offseason even though people in here still think tanking is a bad word and our culture would be bad if we were the Texans. We literally had the chance to be the Texans right now and fuged it up.
