Seattle got a steal at basically no risk.  They get that 3rd round back in a compensatory pick if he's gone after one year.  We could have sent Butler in that trade too along with another player that was expendable but decent enough to offer in a trade.

Stop posting. You see the stipulations?

He’s been playing in a 3-4 basically his entire career.

which is likely why he has always been viewed as a disappointment in Houston.

Clowney is an ideal 4-3 DE IMO.  Seattle got a steal.  I think he will be great. Never thought he fit what Houston did.  Don’t think he will fit great in what Ron is trying to do this year.

The questions to ask are "how many games has he played in Houston versus how many games he could have?" Also, if things don't suit him perfectly here, how long before he demands another trade? And lastly, why pay such big bucks for a defensive player when we already have stars there?

He's just not good value for the money and opportunity costs.

1. Clowney is overrated as fug by fans because he's a former #1 overall pick because he hit a Michigan RB really hard that one time and had great combine measurements.

2. Players on one year deals with no ability to sign extensions automatically have a LOT less trade value.

3. Clowney is injury prone as fug.

Add it all up and the Texans practically had to pay someone to take the guy off their hands.
