Next head coach won't have any attachment to him.

Obviously... So the odds may be against him anyways, but I think he fit better in a 4-3 so if the staff that comes in runs a 4-3 he may have a better shot of sticking than a 3-4 staff.

Not a sexy stat line, but he's got a ton of potential. He's always around the play, but seldom making the play. Needs good coaching.

I agree, he suffered as a 3-4 DT. He'll do much better as a 4-3 DE again. He just needs to get better at not overpursuing the QB and running himself out of the play. A good D Line coach could really make him a solid 3rd down rotational, and potentially a starter. In either case, we're getting a great value out of him.

Provides decent DL depth, is constantly working his tail off, and will stand up and rush when asked.

Not sure how anybody could say anything bad about this signing. Cheap, short-term deal that gives us depth that we know that we haven't whined about outside of "trying to be the voice of reason" when folks were hyping him up for the London game.

Like it was mentioned this is more of a competing for a spot contract. He was 570,000 last year I assume this would be about 750,000. OTC listed his value at 1.2... I hope Hurney didn’t go that high.

It's not who he signed, its that he's signing people with no HC input.  That would mean either Hurney is free to ad lib or Tepper is directly calling the shots.

Either should be worrisome.

Assuming the signing bonus is small (thus little dead cap), there is nothing to hate about this move.  The new staff won't have any pre-conceived notions about him, so if he makes the team he makes it on merit and we get a good depth piece.

Oh no. I agree on that but since this is a low risk contract that’s really just for a chance to compete at camp under a new HC it doesn’t bother me as much as the middle range/future contracts for players we don’t know and don’t have a past with.

I’m especially not cool large contracts on player besides Addison and Bradberry at this point. I really want a new safety, I was a big Boston proponent back in the day but the fact surrounding him worry me a lot with Hurney.

Good....alot of upside to Obada.

He quietly had a good year.  He tripled his production from 2018 (tackles) in limited playing time.  Had to play inside a lot more than he was used to.

His numbers (minus the 5 sacks) were akin to McCoy's (total tackles).  McCoy was on the field for 63% of the snaps, Obada was on the field 28% of the snaps.
