Agreed.  Rivera was ripped for his nepotism, but this is shaping up to be the same type of situation all over again.  Maybe these guys will actually perform, but it's not a good look to just hire all of your buddies with no experience.

I’ll admit, I’m not crazy about all these nepotistic hires. I was super happy he went outside the box and got Joe Brady and I was ok with Phil Snow because by all accounts he’s been a good college DC, but the rest of these have me uneasy. But the real test of whether he’s going to Rivera it up is whether he refuses to let underperformers go.  Rivera refused to let his buddies go even when they were atrocious at their job like Shula, we’ll see if Rhule is the same way.

Rhule did the same thing when he took over Baylor - cleaned house. So all these guys have been with him through the 3 year rebuild. Maybe he can do it again. Tepper is clearly giving him free rein.

Wilson and Parcell surmised that this is not the future assistant GM position but more of an administrative spot.

Yeah but he banked his entire future on getting Barkley and Jones. If those moves don't pan out quickly, Gettleman will be headed into retirement. And some of those openings on the roster were created by him jettisoning good players.

But, he has definitely done a better job drafting than Hurney. Not a super high mark to hit at this point, however. The results are that they have won a total of 9 games in his two seasons. It's pretty hard to ignore that.

I don't expect it will get much better next season.

2018 was just an awful team with Eli. He is banking on Barkley and Jones, but without making this an I wish DG was still here thread, they are at least making strides to getting their core. Whether they are good enough, who knows but we’ve got Moore, CMC and then lots of question marks. Way too many question marks. Cam is a question mark, the OL, the DL, the secondary, TE, non-Moore wideouts, pretty much everything except RB.

Redskins will win the superb owl next year. Just you watch. While we trifle in 0-16 territory.

You ride Rivera’s dick more than some porn stars do in videos give it a fuging rest or go be a Redskins fan

Dude they were 3-13 the year before DG got there and were in shambles with a QB who was done. They had a decent couple drafts. According to PFR, they’ve got 8 starters from the past two years. We’ve got 2 starters from the past two years.

I don’t want him back but he’s drafted better than we have since he’s been gone.

I thought W/L record was the only thing that mattered in evaluating GMs? I know I've heard that an awful lot in these discussions.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
