The PI review is no more

I didn’t see it posted anywhere else but if it is please feel free to remove this or merge. After one season of reviewing and challenging pass interference calls, the NFL has decided to end that experiment. Honestly I don’t think that should come as a surprise to anyone as it was a colossal failure and should have never come about in the first place.

The XFL booth guy that reviews plays in real-time is the better move. It gets it right, quickly and with support from a home office look-in.

I hope the NFL brings this over the way they did with the skycams from the old XFL... what a difference that made in viewing games on TV.

seemed like the refs boycotted this rule

That's exactly what happened.  And they are getting the reaction they wanted.  They went so far in protesting the rule that fans are just like "well that was a waste of time."

As a side note: The Packers, one of the most favored franchises, were (not surprisingly) one of the only teams that actually benefitted from the rule change.

    • I think starting this week you gotta work in Tremayne out there.   You don't got to bench XL but Tremayne just seems to be clearly a better WR at this stage (despite XL having the physical tools).   I think waiting on Coker is malpractice.
    • I don't like much about this team BUT WE ARE GONNA WIN THIS THING BABY LETS GOOOOOOO
    • I agree completely.  I’m not absolving XL of his errors and shortcomings, but week 2 was definitely less an issue with him as it was QB and coaching/scheme.     It’s becoming abundantly clear, not just with XL, but with everyone on the offense, our coaches are not crafting a game plan to play to their players’ strengths, but rather they’re creating a game plan and then trying to fit guys into it where each position is treating each player as interchangeable and they’re not.  The breakdown I watched also discussed how no one expected XL to be destroying people with his route running coming out - that would have to be refined.  So, the poo we’re seeing, we can’t really blame him for.  He has gotten open enough often, but the passes are often off-target.  And he would likely excel more as a guy who can threaten with the deep ball to take the top off the defense, but we don’t have a QB that can throw that pass.
