Matt Rhule on the lack of effort in today's practice:

"I was not overly pleased with the starters, which obviously always then goes back to the coaching staff and myself."

Since when do coaches take responsibility for poor performances? I had no idea this was possible, and honestly it is quite refreshing.

It’s nice to know a coach (and people in general) will at least entertain examining his staff and self for failure.

Ron would rather put talented players in the doghouse, or drive that square peg than ever learn to coach outside of his comfort zone.

Cant wait till this team starts winning some games...this place is going to trip.  LOL.

This coach is going to win...matter of time

Agreed. I just don't think that "matter of time" is occurring this season. I'm high on Rhule in the long run. I'll feel much better about this franchise if and when we get away from Marty Hurney.

    • This is a toughie because I wonder what a guy like Canales thinks about redemption stories for addiction issues. Also, I think this is a case of 1 player getting caught, and not being naive enough to think this isn't more common in college than we think. I'd toss a 3rd rounder out there. 2026 is essentially a redshirt season regardless, so he's not taking over for any NFL QB next year. Best case, he's ready to go in 2027 if we pass on Bryce's extension. Worst case, he's our future backup QB2. Kid has the tools to be an NFL QB. I do think we could somehow land a '26 3rd round pick back in a trade. Our past years' third rounders are: Brazzell Princely Wallace DJ Johnson Matt Corral All this to say, I could see a team like the Jets going w/ a 2nd. They have three FRPs next year.
    • Alright man! We're here for it! Just glad you're keeping the doors open!
    • I think we've seen improvement in Bryce's performance. It still isn't up to world beater status, but in Canales defense, he can say that the limitations of the player were hit. I think he survives that even if Bryce doesn't. Still, I think it's a 50/50 shot for Bryce to make it. QB is one of the toughest jobs to do in the sports world, if not the most, so the failure rate is really high, no matter the pedigree. Heck, Archie Manning gets a lot of credit as a great QB but anyone who saw his career in motion knows he wasn't really that good and he was surrounded by bottom of the bowl players. He did get it figured out with his sons, though. That grandson... maybe.
