Quick Question:

How many NFL teams would fire their own coaching staffs today if it was guaranteed they would be getting Rhule and company?

I think at least 10

I think probably less than 10. If we are this successful(.500 or better) at the halfway point, I think that number will rise quite a bit. It will rise even more at 16 games if the same is true.

I would expect that most owners/GM's aren't jumping off a cliff very quickly this far into the season. That will happen towards the last third to quarter of the season.

Four games in, guys.

I like what I've seen so far as much as anybody, but I also remember there was a time when people thought Chip Kelly was a genius too.

Exactly my point.

I think a lot of teams hold on to bad coaching for fears it would only get worse from the current pool of coaching availability. Teams tried to interview Rhule for years and he declined.

How many teams would take a risk on a largely unknown but has shown a ton of promise in the NFL thus far? I think quite a few.

I think 10(about) is a good guess. Much like QB, HCs that are able to handle adversity is a great trait. Weird off-season, huge turnover, and no pre-season Rhule STILL had the team ready week one, two, three, and four. Yes its only four games, no matter that shows me plenty and I believe other owners/GM will think so too.

I did have very low expectations coming in.

Yeah this is kinda ridiculous. I get being excited, and I'm as excited as anyone here by the early prospects of Rhule and company. But we're 4 games into a very strange season in the middle of a pandemic. I wouldn't read so much into that we think 10+ other teams right now would fire their coaches for Rhule. Only reported interest in him the past few go arounds was NYJ and NYG and Jets I believe passed on him, while we might've outbid the Giants but not sure exactly what went down there. Other teams who needed HC weren't very interested in him the past few years, I highly doubt 4 games would sway their opinion on that. Let's talk after the season.

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
