So who likes this playoff format?

I kinda like it

only 1 seed gets bye

an extra team gets into the playoffs

One of the few tweaks of ‘the game’ that I actually appreciate

I like it. I think it keeps teams playing longer (not resting guys, not playing the rookies because the team is eliminated).

Personally I don't.  I think if you play well enough to be the #2 seed in the conference you also deserve that bye.
Ultimately this is just a money grab, the more games the more tv revenue.

However, at the same time I'll never complain about more football.

When they announced it, I was thinking a play-in game between the two lowest seeds would be fun but they wanted to capitalize and make it a big single wildcard weekend and not stretch out the schedule.

No brainer. I didn't get why so many complained at first. Makes the season much more interesting with teams playing for more whether it's the final playoff spot or the 1st round bye. Remember how they moved like half of week 17 to the late slot since they all had playoff implications? Meanwhile every other year, there are teams resting their starters in week 16.

And how can you dislike an entire weekend of nonstop football? The 1st 2-7 game, Buffalo-Indy, was the best game of the weekend so far. How can anyone have preferred Buffalo having a week off over playing that game? They should have changed this years ago.

Isn't that sort of "unamerican"? Either you win or you do not. No reward for the losers! Haha...

If they keep the 16 games format. I want the NFL to consider a condition for the division winners. Only division winners with 0.500 or better go to the playoff. Otherwise that spot goes to the team with the highest winning percentage..

    • Michael McLeod is a Cane apparently..
    • He's going way overboard. I mean, men talk this way all the time. Bryce seems like a fine young man. But he's been piss poor at his job. I wish that I could be piss poor at mine---wait, no I don't---and get paid millions.  The thing is, I've supported Bryce in the past, but he doesn't seem to be the type of QB that what I've heard Chris Canty refer to as a "force multiplier." He can't make good players great, he needs great players to make him good. He's not going to pull out a win when times get tough (at least he hasn't), but he becomes good when there is essentially nothing to play for. After trying to give Bryce the benefit of the doubt, and waiting for the light switch to stay on, I'm tired of waiting. I've seen what I need to see, and it ain't pretty. So excuse me for calling Bryce, "pussified" for not being more aggressive in his pursuit of down field plays. He appears to just not have it in him. I'm sorry, Bryce and all Bryce Stans. He's still got to go though.
    • Yeah me too. We should have taken him. He was a much better bet than most of what you find that far down. He might have been 5 stars coming out of high school, I don’t know. Just that he was highly thought of. His college career didn’t get off to a great start and he ended up on a bad team with bad protection. But you could watch him and see what he had. I don’t see a way he doesn’t have a long career as a #2, at worst.
