as part of the Christian brotherhood....I could never find a specific quote from Jesus on that.   So living in sin was the path taken here as well.   But I struggle to find Jesus talking specifically on a lot of stuff.  Maybe that is just me.  SC education system and all.

My wife and I lived together for about 7 years before officially getting married.

If both of you are fine with it, don't change. Open and free commitment>marriage. My g/f just wanted to be married, so that's what we did. I would have been better off just living together - but she wanted the kids to have a "normal" life and her family is pretty old fashioned, or at least were at the time.

I told my wife before we got married the only thing changing was her last name. Marriage is a legal construct, commitment is personal.

It's more common than not these days.  I'm taking the plunge in 2 months although it's hard to beat my bachelor pad in Chi-town.

I always thought that was the way to go.  My parents were OK with it, but my GF's parents never were.   To me, it helped me realize I didn't need to marry one girl!  A year lease is a LOT cheaper than a marriage!
