I don't think he is speculating, it would be more vague, something like "three 1st and a player or two".  I think someone is whispering in his ear.  They might have already received an offer close to that.  That might be their way of letting other teams know the starting point.

I do find it interesting that he said two young defensive players.  All along I've thought Jets have the best package to offer but I'm not sure who they would want off of the their defense.  The 49ers have some young defensive talent.   Miami has Howard but I don't think he is on a rookie deal.

We actually have more young defensive trade chips than most teams.  Maybe us or the 49ers already offered something similar.  Here again, this might be their way of letting other teams know what they have to beat.  Maybe its their way of letting the Jets know they have to come off of more draft picks because other teams can offer players.

I'm not 100% convinced they want to keep him (maybe 99%). 

Usually I'm of the "QB at all cost" camp, but the fact is they were terrible with him.  Because of their old GM and coach their cap situation is terrible, their draft capital situation isn't the best.  New GMs like to make their own mark, helps to have cap space and draft picks.

Building around Watson might not be easy, getting a king's ransom and hitting on a draft QB might actually be somewhat appealing.

If everything was great between them and Watson they could never justify trading him to their fans but they might see Watson's unhappiness as a blessing.  This way they can reset the franchise and it looks like it was Watson's idea.

There is no reason for them to say they are interested in trading them, acting like they won't is exactly what they should be doing.  Its just odds some of the news that has "leaked".

In the process of rebuilding the defense,  not sure we could afford to get rid of two young starters, plus draft capitol that would enable us to replace them. 

My original opinion is still the same. While I would love to have Watson, I believe the.cost is to.much for our team at this point. 

I know whomever trades for Watson is going to give up a historical amount to aquire him.

It's unlikely there is another beat reporter in the entire NFL with a hook as good as what McClain has with the Texans...


...and over 3 weeks ago he unequivocally went on the record saying Watson will not be traded under any circumstances...

Everyone has a price in the NFL, but you'd have to really be sure you are as good a team builder as you think you are.

2 1sts, 2 2nds, Brown, Chinn and Burns for a 25 year old QB with a $40 million cap hit after the season.

While the Panthers do have some good talent, and Watson would be a fantastic addition; there's isn't too much else there.  Sure, we have a really good set of WRs, but Samuel is probably gone leaving Robby and DJ and....a bunch of JAGs.  OL pretty spotty, even with resigning Moton.  CMC is fantastic, but he's going to be dependent on who gets him the ball and who can block for him.

On defense, giving up those three leaves us with mostly nothing.  Shaq's a great guy, but he's not a world changing LB.  Then we have a bunch of rookies or untested guys.

So while I'd love to have Watson, losing him for that amount would set us back 3-4 years.  I'm not a fan at all of leaving the cupboard that bare.

If Houston wants value, they need to get this done before the draft.  If they try to sit on Watson until training camp, they aren't going to get anything near what they would over the next two to three months.

      I see the issues with Tyreek, which is why I put an asterisk on him and all the way on the bottom. I don't even see him playing at all this entire year since he hasn't even been seen working out at all. But I do not think he's as hard to play with as Stefon Diggs is IMO and Tyreek is more of a game changer. But either way, it's pie in the sky.  Always loved Keenan and he is from the Carolinas so that's really the only thing that may interest him playing here if no one is giving him any calls to play.

      It's not that I'm not rooting for him to do well, but I'd be lying if I said him having a good season wouldn't scare me after what we've seen out of him so far. I'd be afraid of it just being one of those situations you see all the time, a player is in a make it or break it season, they somehow raise their level of play to new levels, and then proceed to immediately drop back off a cliff the next season (although this does usually happen in contract years, not a player trying to not get cut). Now, if you tell me that no matter how well he plays, we're then going to flip him for a draft pick in the offseason, then yea, I'd want him to go off for a monster season so we can get a better return.

      Helllllllllllllll no on Tyreek, not even on a vet minimum and if he was playing at his peak abilities. We have way too young of a WR room to bring that head case into the locker room, there is just no way I want him around any of our WRs.  The things that make him great aren't things that can be taught, they're his natural born athletic gifts, so there isn't anything useful he can teach our guys and would just be a bad influence on them. Same goes for Stefon Diggs. Allen I'd love, he'd be a great mentor for T-Mac and Coker, but I doubt he plays anywhere other than with the Chargers or a legit true SB contender this year (and only small odds on the latter there, likely Chargers or nothing I'd guess).
