PFF Renner: The Biggest Draft Mistake For Each Team in the Past 5 Years

This pass went 30 yards on a rope and hit his receiver in the facemask before being dropped. That kind of otherworldly athleticism translates to 32 of 32 teams.

I think you missed the point. They lost the game despite this because the situation matters.

Situation absolutely matters. Mahomes would have been running for his life here, just like Cam. Imagine Cam or Mahomes behind Dallas' billion dollar offensive line a few years back. Imagine a healthy Cam with Andy Reid or hell even Joe Brady. It makes me so angry to know the Panthers squandered a generational talent on hacks like Mike Shula, and that Rivera/Hurney/Gettleman let him get beat to hell because they were too stupid or stubborn to properly invest in a legit o line or weapons for Cam.

Marty loved his vets and paid them way more than the market on new contracts when they were past there prime .  He made mistakes when he let Bradberry leave . He hurt the fans when he let Steve Smith go . The Cam Newton for Teddy Bridgewater deal wasn't handled well . Teddy got way more than his worth .  It was time for new management .

This comes as absolutely no surprise:

CAROLINA PANTHERS: ANYTHING AFTER THE SECOND ROUND

Marty Hurney wasn’t fired for his draft record, as he did fine in early rounds. It was Rounds 3-plus where they simply have struggled to find competency. Arguably the best one of the bunch has been Corn Elder, who earned a 68.5 grade this season on 411 snaps as a slot corner. If that’s your biggest mistake, though, it’s been a solid span of drafts.

When one of Marty's best post-2nd round picks is a throw away pick from Gettleman, that says a lot.

Marty wasnt responsible for Smitty.

I'd argue some of his 2nds are why we were always so up and down.

His "hit" % in the 2nd if damn near unbelievable, and then toss in the trade ups...whew.

Agreed. I think Reid deserves a TON of credit for Mahomes because he's worked wonders with every QB he's ever had, but I don't think there's many situations where Mahomes doesn't become an elite NFL QB.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: WHERE TO START…

Go take a look for yourself. I don’t think there’s been a worse drafting team over the span. D.K. Metcalf in 2019 and landing Chris Carson in the seventh are really the only saving graces for what’s been a messy five years of picks. It's almost incomprehensible after how dominantly the Seahawks drafted from 2010-2012.

This is precisely what has me worried about our new GM.

We've potentially jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

    • I believe Lloyd will elevate not just the whole unit, but also whoever his running mate is. Wallace is still very young, I think he's only 23 with two years of exp now. Cherelus can handle starting, he's just fighting with staying healthy. Kuwatch I think is going to be a contender after a couple week of understanding the system.  I mean Lee will be against..... what nearly 10 NFL-level WRs, he's going to get work and its up to him if he can hang.  I think its fair to expect 12th +/- 3 or 4 spots.  You know this, it boils down to how healthy everyone stays.....cause if dbrown, horn, Lloyd, Michael Jackson, or tervon miss extended time.....no way 10th can be reached. IF all the names above remain haethly, I do think 10th should be the goal. They are a young unit and added talent to a 16th ranked unit. Its time to march forward!!
    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
