What was the boldest move the franchise DIDN'T make

Make these things that could have/rumored to have almost happened, not just random poo like trade a 3rd for Tom Brady in 2000 or whatever.

I like to think the rumored Joe Thomas for a first during the 2015 season probably wins us the superbowl, sets us up moving forward, and keeps cam healthy.

Hurney was trying to trade up for Jimmy Clausen. Exactly how high he was trying to get and what he was offering I don't know, but thank god no one took the bait he was dangling.

Not hiring a real GM in 2017. Instead hired a GM who had already trashed the team once. 
 

Joe Thomas is a good one. They knew the 1st rounder they would be giving up was going to be a very late 1st. Rumor was CLE wanted an extra pick. Should have thrown a 3-4th at them. 3 year left on his deal at a very reasonable 8M/yr. Instead paid 25M to Matt Kalil to suck for a year then quit on the team.

Recency bias says not trading up for Justin Herbert...but then that probably means no Chinn. It's kinda hard to think "what if?" scenarios.

It was reported that Gettleman tried to trade up to 2nd overall to draft Leonard Fournette. Most people are already critical of drafting running backs in the first round (and rightfully so)...imagine trading up to NUMBER 2 OVERALL to take one.

Then it would have been really tough if Herbert would have fell to 7 and Panthers fans had to watch the team pass on him because they just gave a backup QB 34M guaranteed.

Herbert just had the best rookie season in NFL history, only thing I can think of to ease the pain.....Herniay would still be GM if he drafted Herbert..
