Panthers give Teddy permission to seek a trade

No idea what the market is for him. Chicago and Houston need a QB. Maybe a Super Bowl contending team that wants a reliable veteran backup. Pittsburgh comes to mind. Maybe New Orleans wants him back. But I wouldn’t trade him there...

What's happening is that Rhule has supreme confidence in his OC and his system. I think he thinks that his system can make a journeyman into a SB winner. That didn't work with Teddy, but I think the reasoning inside the organization was that Teddy was going rogue and doing his own thing at times (passes nowhere near the first down marker, holding the ball out at the goal line, ect).

The new narrative is that Darnold will listen and do as he's told, and then our amazing offensive system will turn him into Joe Montana.

What happens when Brady leaves? Darnold regresses back to being a bad QB?

None of those teams need a QB.  The only team that I can think of is Denver and he’s a terrible fit for that offense, they have a bunch of deep threats.

Brady isn't fixing Darnold. If Darnold gets fixed, it'll be Sean Ryan who fixes him.

You’re right, to an extent. Part of Darnold’s problems are his poor fundamentals. Not setting his feet, throwing at odd angles, etc. But another part of his problem was how bad Adam Gase’s offensive playcalling was. I watched some analysis of Sam Darnold from last season and it was obvious how wrong some play calls were for the defense they were facing. So if Ryan can fix some of Darnold’s fundamental shortcomings, hopefully Brady’s scheme will put Darnold in more winning situations too.

And I assume, though that's all it is, that Ryan takes over for Brady when Brady ultimately leaves. But again, that's a big assumption.

Probably a good one though.

Ryan was rumored to be the top candidate for OC before Joe Brady came into the picture.

It would be moronic if we rush into cutting Teddy. For one, there's a chance a high profile starting qb for a competitive team will get injured sometime before the start of the season leaving Teddy as one of the few available qbs that could keep them afloat. Envision a team like Seattle losing Russell Wilson or Tom Brady's body finally breaking down in Tampa. You think those teams wouldn't throw a late round 2022 pick, especially if we restructure Teddy's contract to take some of the hit off them? Why eat $10 million extra and forfeit the chance at any pick at all unless you absolutely have to? Hell, I'd wait at the very least until the final cuts for the 53 before considering it.

    • Yes. I went to those games instead of selling In 2018, it was hot  as hell and the Panthers had some ‘entertainment on the side of the stadium, like a street fair…I have never seen so many seriously obese people, men and women, in cowboy leggings and shirts   I swear, it was traumatic  I said to my friend with me ‘dear god, Cam. In the name of all that is holy, please win  this home game, if you never win another one, to shut these people up.   I stayed in a hotel sat and Sunday near stadium. Sweet Jesus  obnoxious …of course, when they lose,, there isn’t one sign of cowboys anything   worst fans ever,  they will be in Charlotte in force because even at the escalated price in Charlotte, , it was still cheaper than attending in Jerry ville
    • Jags WRs have twice as many drops plus some as the next closest team.
    • Very true about Pennington but I don’t think anyone traded a haul to move up in the draft to get him, that’s what gets me about young. I mean essentially we gave up cmc and moore, our two best offensive players, one of which is arguably one of the best in the league. Gave them up for a guy who hasn’t shown any reason for us to give up the haul to get him. It’s year three and we are seeing the same mistakes he was making year one game one.
