I told a friend of mine towards the end of the season that I just think he’s in the NFL to A) get paid and B) set himself up for the next really big NCAA opening. If I remember correctly he wasn’t that interested in coaching in the NFL until Tepper and Marty pulled into his driveway and handed him 70 million dollars.

I certainly don’t believe he will coach out his contract.  He appears burned out and has for months now.

His contract at Baylor was 62 million.

This was almost a lateral move money wise.

No his contract at Baylor was 4.1 million per year. He would have had a 17 year contract for it to be lateral. The Panthers gave Rhule a 62 million dollar deal and had a 6 million buy out they had to pay Baylor. Which is about 8.8 million per year.

Finally was able to listen to the pressor.   Agree..Rhule looks like hell.  However...I also did note....

Rhule and Fit seemed to be very comfortable with each other.

Rhule did a good job evading the question about comparing Fit  and Marty.

Fit sounds confident.  He sounds confident in their board and their plans. I am going to trust this guy.

I told him, 'This is your dream. You want to be in the NFL. These are people that I know you will jive with. You'll do great things

Fair enough. But that was probably before the pressure of having to live up to David Tepper’s 70 million dollar expectations.

Also article sounds like her idea not his.

Rhule said many times that he wanted to coach at the top level.  This is his dream job.  I think too many of you are over analyzing him.  This is his first real offseason where traveling and interviews (much better than Covid 2020).  Just like rookies in their initial season it takes some getting used to.

Quote

Did you catch the Myles Hartsfield "starting" reference?  (I think he was the nickel at the end of the season).  That is significant if he can hold the job.  Prolly why we let Elder go.

I like Hartsfield.  He is more versatile than Corn E. It was good to Corn step up his game last year though.

The quote I found interesting was Rhule talking about being the first Coach to offer K. Pitts a scholarship. If Pitts slips to #8 (I know its only a dream) then he is definitely the pick!

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
