I was at training camp his rookie year and while everyone was gaggling on Luke and Cam, etc. I was talking to him a bit and asked him about playing in the slot. He had some rather choice words about that and was adamant he's an outside CB. Of course that was a while ago, but we know he has a bit of an attitude. Hope that if we do move him to the slot he takes it okay. Does anyone know if Bouye has ever played nickel? Because I could see that too, Donte really isn't that bad for a 2nd outside CB.

I think Bouye played in the slot at Denver. Donte can play outside, but he has to be matched up to the right WR. The Horn pick gives them more flexibility now.

That's smart, we don't want to hurt his feelings with competition. Same with Sam, we really need these two to feel the entire backing of the Panthers organization so they don't get their feelings hurt with the idea of competing.

I'm only frustrated because Fields was still available, and we absolutely need to get QB right.

But, its hard to argue with Horn in the range he was drafted and CB was a huge need.

Sorry but taking the 4th QB of the draft at pick 8 is terrible no matter what the QB talent is, especially one with throwing flaws like Fields who I think is closer to Jalen Hurts than anyone else

If Sam sucks we'll be in a good position to take a QB high next year

this is nonsensical.  Its about the talent that is there.  The Panthers didn't believe in Fields and that is fine, but I've been watching him for a couple years and think he is significantly better than what some of his critics are saying.

We'll see I guess, hopefully he can do well with the Bears.

Best part of this pick is Donte Jackson is now a nickel CB where he should be

Completely agree. You can play Pride or Bouye opposite Horn and move Jackson to his more natural position. The talent in the secondary is as good as I can ever remember.

The position pick is good. A corner who can shut down an entire side of the field is profoundly rare. It completely changes the defense. So if they think he’s that guy...he’s for sure worth this pick.

Fields is gonna bust hard on the Bears. He was visibly not happy to be drafted by them. Lawrence and Lance are the good QBs out of this draft. Mac might do alright on the Pats, he would have been a star on the Saints though.

    • The entire OP is about the play calling and results and only mentioned T-Mac one time, in the sense of our offensive struggles only made me more frustrated about our #1 WR only getting a single 2nd half target in a game we were behind for the majority of it. How is that showing my true colors? It's way more of other people reading too much into it and thinking this is all and only about T-Mac for me, but it's not.  He just happens to be the player that I specifically was upset by his 2nd half usage, but it had nothing to do with my personal feelings towards him, but that he's our only legitimate WR and he had a single target in the 2nd half after going for 73 yards in the first. To me, that is a very legitimate play calling gripe, the win or particular player aside.
    • Dowdle looked great. Watching him made this game alot of fun.
    • We’re stuck with Bryce for now.  He led TWO drives where we came from behind to take the lead. One of them was the winning drive and he threw the winning TD. Taken as a whole…he played at expectation after the 1st quarter. That’s not so bad under the circumstances.  We got the win. Maybe they’ll struggle to build on it but a win is a win. He drove the offense down and took the lead when it was needed. You can’t take that away from him.    We’re not changing QBs anytime soon.  Or owners.  So…when they win, we should take it at face value and give credit where it’s due.  Bryce came up big in clutch moments. You can’t take that away from him.
