Aaron Rodgers to Panthers?

If Aaron Rodgers has his heels dug in and is willing to miss the start of the 2021 season to get out, the Packers may have no other option than to trade him away and ensure the team receives back fair compensation for one of the most valuable players in football.

However, I cannot for the life of me, see the Panthers wrecking their present long term rebuilding program for an aged Rodgers who seems to have turned into a self centered, all about me, head case.

That's the kind of dumbsh-t semantics argument I expect from somebody like Sizzlebuzz.

Football decisions should be made by football people for football reasons.

I've come to expect very absolute statements from you on very broad topics.

I agree with Mr Scott on this one. As an owner you can give your input and sit in with your guys while they are drafting to see how/why they are making the decisions they are making. However it’s ultimately their decisions. If they keep making bad ones you don’t like, then you have the wrong guys on your staff and it’s time to make some decisions...

You have, as long as I've seen you post on here, been dead set against owner interference.

Are you now in favor of it if it gets the player you want?

(or more specifically, gets us away from the player you didn't want)

I'm just talking about reality. If you keep failing at a core component of the job at some point someone higher than you gets involved, either to try to help fix the issue or by determining you're the issue. If you can't find a franchise QB in today's NFL you aren't going to consistently compete. Tepper knows that. He's let them identify the QB's of their choosing this far, but if Darnold flops something significant is going to change in the process of identifying the next guy.

And if that something is firing the guys who are doing the job and getting somebody new, that's fine.

If the something is making those decisions himself? That's a disaster waiting to happen.

It's kinda like if you were an accountant having a house built by professional builders, but you don't think they're doing a very good job.

If you fire those builders and look around for better ones, that's smart.

If you fire those builders and then decide you're going to build the house yourself, you're an idiot.

This is unnecessary. You don’t have resort to abusive behavior just because you’re losing an argument.

Yeah and it seems way too early to be talking about this with 2nd year Rhule and 1st year Fitts. I get Teddy didn’t work out, but he wasn’t a complete disaster... He just wasn’t worth $20 million and should not be a solidified starter on any team, but that was unknown until someone gave him a chance. My main concern is not having a Plan B this year, (seems a little too similar to their mistake last year) but they sure as hell know a lot more about building a NFL team than I do.

    • I like what Freeling brings to the table all around. If he is willing to put in the work he has an opportunity to be one of the better Tackles in the league down the line. Hunter Brazzell and Hecht are all premium additions but development from our staff are the key to unlocking them. Hopefully Lee and Wheatley will provide much needed additional depth to our secondary. Beyond that it's important not to get too caught up in draft grades. Many drafts over the years that turned out to be really good were not fawned over with praise. While some that were ended up being historical duds. Panthers fans ought to know this as well as anyone. In conclusion...
    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
