Yeah and it seems way too early to be talking about this with 2nd year Rhule and 1st year Fitts. I get Teddy didn’t work out, but he wasn’t a complete disaster... He just wasn’t worth $20 million and should not be a solidified starter on any team, but that was unknown until someone gave him a chance. My main concern is not having a Plan B this year, (seems a little too similar to their mistake last year) but they sure as hell know a lot more about building a NFL team than I do.

I can't blame Matt Rhule for too much last year knowing who he had to work with.

I've said before that I see this as Year One of the rebuild.

here again, you are thinking too black and white.

We aren't talking about the owner doing player evaluation, but if an owner comes in and gives the coach a 6 year deal and says build the team for long term success that is ok.  Our moves last year were not long term anything.

I think you are being to black and white here. Yes, most of our FA moves weren't long term but about getting enough talent on the depleted roster to get a fair assessment of the young players we had. However, the all defensive draft and doubling up at positions where we had absolutely no young talent was definitely for the long term. We needed young DL and DBs for sure and we got them. After that year's evaluation we went complete long term in FA and the draft for this season. This team is now full of athletic players who have underachieved and/or have a high upside that if half of these players reach their full potential will be good, solid players that we got at incredible value. We will have the cap space to resign the FA who do and the contracts are such as we can move on from the ones who don't and the rooks will have a little time to show if they too can shine or not without being pushed out on the field before they are ready. The balanced approach we took last season combined with the all in approach of this season has set us up for the long term. It's not complete and there will be more changes along the way but we now have a young foundation to coach and evaluate. For the first time that I can remember we actually have multiple players at most positions who have the possibility of becoming our guy instead of only 1 and praying that he's the one.

It takes a special fanbase to look at what happen to the Bucs last year with Tom, and go "NO, I WANT DARNOLD".

Absofuginglute koolaid drinkers on this board.

Tampa Bay was a borderline playoff team the year before despite their QB throwing 30 interceptions. If they had a QB just trim the INTs in half they would have been a playoff team and Super Bowl contender.

This isn’t true for us. We have a lot of holes on the roster and picked 8th in the draft. We were just one loss away from picking third. Tom Brady also had the benefit of having a bunch of solid players wanting to join him in Tampa. I don’t know if Aaron is viewed the same around the league as Tom where people want to come play with him.

It’s just not the same situation here as it was in Tampa a year ago.

If Aaron Rodgers has his heels dug in and is willing to miss the start of the 2021 season to get out, the Packers may have no other option than to trade him away and ensure the team receives back fair compensation for one of the most valuable players in football.

He'll show up.

Green Bay should sit tight...

...either play for the Packers or quit the game -- that's the choice they should force him to make.

Even if they can get 3 firsts plus a player for a disgruntled 36 year old? I get he was MVP, but he is the kind of guy who will walk away from the game. They need to do what’s best for their business.

All you people who say we will be instant contenders just getting Rodgers, I am wondering how that is calculated (?)

Because Super Bowl and legit playoff teams for the last 20 years, great QB or not, have a top 10 oline and top 10 defense if not better, where as ours (defense and oline) was ranked around 18-20. I can only think of 3-4 cases over 20 years where that was not the case.

So...do people think we will just be breaking NFL records left and right or do people think we will jump 10 spots in both those areas due to some rookies coming in, or maybe think Rhule having a year of experience...or what exactly? Genuinely curious because logically it just doesn’t make sense.

Don't get me wrong I’d be pretty impressed and very surprised if the (pretty shotty) oline the Panthers put together this year is one of the best and, albeit less surprised, the defense jumps 10+ spots because we now have Horn.

IMO the Panthers couldn’t do much with Rodgers and the Bucs are a perfect example...this team just isn’t there yet.

These are good points and I agree. Brady being able to bring several players with him that he knows well and feels comfortable playing with in big games is a pretty big deal too.

Another thing people don't talk about enough is that TB was on the verge of not making the playoffs even with all that talent because of the coaching staff insisting on winning there way. It wasn't until they realized they might be eliminated from the playoffs and having a disastrous season that they finally checked their egos and gave over to Brady. Brady was able to say this his how we'll run MY offense and we will win. They started using motion which they never did before and letting Brady read the defense and call the plays. That's when there offense completely changed. It's the same way Manning was able to win that SB for the Broncos. I'm not sure Rodgers can do that as I don't think he ever has which may be what this is really mostly about. I think he believes he can and wants the opportunity and GB will never give him that. I think that's what Wilson wants too.

In the Future, I think we will see more of this but important QBs will start demanding this before they sign those big contracts with their teams. They will start telling the league, hey I'll come play for you if you agree to do it my way and let me run the offense. It's the NBA approach. It will be interesting to see how that plays out and just how many QBs teams will be willing to give that kind of power to.

If Rodgers was more stable, Id be down for the risk.... I mean hed have to score 40+....and for most of the games I think he could. Luke would need to comeback as well, then I start planning for the Superowl......
