The Arnold & Tremble Combo: Why it will shine

From all the insider footage and interviews post-draft, it seems like Rhule was set on landing Tremble.  He's clearly super excited about him even when compared to our other picks. (A side note--the team also seemed pretty set on targeting Hubbard as well)  Furthermore, in the limited action we've seen in camp, he's been looking sharp and seems to be transitioning pretty easily.  Made some acrobatic catches and just looks beastly.  

Reading up, I've seen Kittle comparisons and a few analysts that have pretty hefty expectations.  And I see why.  It helps he absolutely, without a doubt, has the NFL athleticism and frame from the get go, very little work needed at the body shop with this kid.  Also, the one element that the TE prospects need more than anything else to contribute is blocking.  He's got it down and then some.  Combine that with the athleticism and it's apparent we have a potential monster on our hands. 

Thing is, this isn't a Swole Bones situation.  We just spent a 3rd rounder on Tremble and he's set to contribute.  We didn't have this type for Brady last year so we may see more TE/H-Back inclusion with the pure FB out of the roster.  Our team has not typically drafted TEs high. Ian Thomas at the top of the 4th was pretty much our highest grab at one in some time.   He have him off the line as the H-Back in our spread formations from the gun, have him as a FB in I, have him as a true TE2, he can be very adaptive.

Sax's Prediction: 18-27 Catches, 275-400 yards, 1-2 TDs

Now to Arnold.  Why do I like him?  Because he's a redzone target.  We not only landed Marshall for this but Arnold proved to pull the rock in for AZ just fine.  Even made some bigger plays.  For being a bit limber/long, he's got decent blocking chops.  

Looking at our success at the spot, we landed Olsen in a trade and Wesley Walls in a FA signing similar to Arnold and where he's currently at in his career.  He's a more balanced TE, leaning receiver...and only 26.

Sax's Prediction: 35-45 rec, 500-650 yards, 4-6 tds

Overall, these predictions account for the volume to CMC, Moore, and Robbie.  I don't know one of Marshall (likely #3), *other Moore, or Shi simply sliding in Samue's volume so that will be more broken up.  

But most importantly, I see these two fitting in very well and it makes sense why Rhule and team are talking up Ian Thomas right now.  He doesn't just have competition, he's fighting for his career/roster spot.  We've got two guys now in place and really an entire position that seemed like a need post-Olsen now accounted for and then some.

They are definitely throw talent from multiple players at the position. 

This is an excellent plan, as there are no lofty expectations places on any 1 player. Although I'm leaning towards Tremble having a bigger impact. 

Ian will be the only one that really has a say in that. 

Well see how it develops.  A lot to be excited for.

Assuming 50 - 60 receptions, that would have been good for TE4 last year in PPR leagues last year. I think your projection is wildly optimistic. He's going undrafted in almost all leagues so you can get him whenever you want.

      Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.

      Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
