Just watched the Hall of Fame game and neither starting QB played . I understand there was health reasons .  How much do you see Darnald playing in our first preseason game? The backup QB is very important . The backup QBs for Dallas and Pitt looked pretty good . How do you think ours will look ?

I think Darnold needs to play a lot this preseason.

He has struggled in the NFL to date and this is brand new offense for him.   It makes no sense to "save him for the regular season".  He needs the work.

I agree he needs to play a lot but we don’t have a backup worth a crap so idk what they will do. Darnold goes down we are definitely screwed.

Significant? Yeah I bet.

I remember hearing all this excitement about this raw QB entering his senior season at Montana (of all places), his rocket arm and off the wall intangibles….from Jordan Palmer through his FIL.  He just needed to go to the right franchise. This was before the hype.

Jordan was right.

He has improved every year and is a top 3 to 5 QB, thats how. And that is how the market works. Lamar is going to make more than that and most would say Allen is ahead of him.

They had him under team control for 2 more years. Make him prove himself again this year, the price wasn’t going to go up much if at all... I’d agree if he was a pending FA or had 1 year left and was forcing a contract but that wasn’t the case. This could easily turn into a massive disaster if we find out that last year was an outlier, which is entirely possible.

    • Only thing I really see it doing is possibly making Tepper listen if a different play caller can't run the offense because of limitations. New hire, someone who hasn't been watching Bryce for the past 3 years up close may be able to talk some sense if he sees that he isn't able to get the job done.

    • Not sure there is anything that will do that outside of Young actually being a legit top 12 QB. Where he won’t need excuses made for him.  It is just as likely to multiply them.
