I get the point Rhule is trying to make but it’s really not a bad or intentional hit. Cutting players and chewing their butts like yesterday will work for only show long before the grown men get sick and tired of it. Gotta be careful before you lose the locker room. One thing Rivera was good at was never losing the locker room. His guys played hard for him till the end. He kept Norman in the dog pound early in his career and never lost him.

You've never been on a team or in a locker room. How would you possibly know?

Yeah when Rivera benched Cam for not wearing a silly tie on a travel day I’m sure the rest of the team was like good call coach, Cam had it coming. Lmao Rivera was trash with his stoic to the end poo. Maybe that’s why even though he is highly likely to die if he gets the rona his players still won’t get vaccinated for him, it’s because they love him so much.

The players like both these coaches. No need to make it a dumb competition

I’m not making it into any sort of competition. I’m simply saying the take that players love Rivera and he never loses the locker room seems patently false to me. Of course it’s just an opinion because I’m not in the locker room. But I’ve watch Rivera’s Panthers play like absolute trash down the stretch for several seasons and they certainly didn’t look like they were trying to win one for the ol gipper. They looked like they were just going through the motions.

He 100% wasn't making the roster anyways, was a long shot for the practice squad even. Makes sense to send a statement to the other guys on the team now. Maybe he'll get invited to another team's camp. I hope he does, it's tough to lose your job because of one dumb mistake.

It happens.  As much as players liked Marty Schottenheimer and bought into his message, at the end of his run in Kansas City the team was undisciplined and completely off the rails mentally.  I remember watching a MNF game when Derick Thomas and Wayne Simmons both melted down and thinking he had lost the team......which he had.

I'm not sure if it is hearing the same message that clearly is no longer working, realizing the coach is a "dead man walking" with the team, or both.

I'm not going to denigrate Ibe because sh¡t happens sometimes when amid action, but you just have to be smarter than that in practice. You don't want to hurt your own teammate, and this was probably emphasized to the entire team after Saturday night's practice.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
