Belichick’s view on joint practices vs. preseason games

Interesting on how Belichick views joint practices vs. preseason games. Very much aligned with Rhule. This is from the Athletic:

“However, sources cautioned Monday that Belichick places much more stock in joint practices than the preseason setting. That’s because coaches can control the setting. Last week, for example, Belichick and Joe Judge collaborated the night before each practice to align specific personnel groupings and create different challenges for their teams to counter. The coaches could learn more at practice than in the preseason, when teams are reluctant to put anything on film for their regular-season opponents to study. 
 

Belichick’s actions validated that claim, as the starting offense only played seven preseason series but got significantly more work in the two weeks of practices with the Eagles and Giants.”

Isn't hitting the opposing team's QB not allowed in joint practices? I would think it a lot easier for QBs to step into throws without the fear of having your spleen ruptured by a 300 lbs DT.

I’m sure that’s all they were doing all day. Just tossing long passes with no opposing pressure or looks to react to.

      The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.

      I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.

      lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
