For those of you surprised by Matt’s grade you need to remember PFF o-line grades are based on both passing and rushing snaps.

Go look at Paradis run grade vs pass grade.

Also fans tend to grade offensive lineman based off of the occasional terrible play but occasionally that doesn’t tell you the full picture.

Player A can give up 2 pressures, 1 sack, no penalties, and block great in the run game.

Player B can give up 5 pressures, 0 sacks, 2 penalties and have several missed blocks in the run game.

A lot of  fans will think player A played worse because all they notice or remember is the one sack.

Fans notice the OL that give up splash plays. You just want consistently from OLmen.

Stop with the data-driven analysis.  You will confuse some people.

The Saints DL is looking at this an licking their chops.  Oh, and who didn't see this hot mess coming?  Most of us did, but the somehow caching staff didn't???

The coaching staff was/is hoping to scheme their way out of this issue. It seems that their idea is to utilize a short and quick passing attack with CMC spoiling the pass to take the pressure of of the O-Line. It may work with average to below average teams, but good teams will not be as susceptible.

It's not "data-driven analysis." Nerds want to believe it because they like the idea of playing sports on spreadsheets, but it isn't analysis of data. All it is is a bunch of keyboard warriors who never played football giving "grades" to football players without knowing the play call or the player responsibilities.

PFF has valuable tracking stats. These grades are worthless.

    • I think Indiana will win it all but Miami should give them a much better fight than Oregon did.
    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
