Doesnt really compute to me though if Sam is getting the ball out quicker than 2.5 seconds on most passing plays.

According to their metric explanation this is accounted for.

Yes, probably....but thats a big staple of our offense, so it is what it is.  The short pass/screen game has become a staple of many NFL offenses these days actually.  Simply because it is very difficult to defend if you've got the right guys.  And we definitely do have the right guys.  If I was Brady I would be screening teams to death until they showed they could stop it.

How long have you been watching Panthers we have never been a good screen team don’t know why. Then the little screen that had hope the other day was called backed because our favorite oline guy Elf bear hugged the guy.

I've been watching the Panthers since 1995.  I have literally seen every single game they have played save for about 5.  We have the best receiving RB in maybe the history of the game.  It would be absurd to not feed him the ball in space.  Screens and dump-offs are a big part of this.  Also, we absolutely have been a very good screen team in the past.  The Smoke Screens to Smitty back in the day used to kill teams.

Other than Smitty’s screens that’s all we’ve been good at. CMC gets dump offs but not many screens because oline sucks maybe one day.

Deangello and Stewart were good with it too.

Ryan Kalil was a great blocker in the screen game. Norwell and Turner were quality there too.

Keep screening until teams stop it. Kind of like what happened in 2013 when Luke and TD stopped the Saints in that rain game. If I recall correctly, the saints stopped screening so much after that game.

Payton is the king of exploiting our biggest weakness. I remember when he kept throwing at Eric Reid over and over and over.

We can do the same to them, hopefully.

I would say Joe Brady needs to figure out how to get the ball in the end zone with a top receiver, league MVP at running back, AND Darnold…then he may have his pick of jobs.

Darnold missed two easy throws in the end zone last week and fumbled in the redzone with what rhule said was a walk in td. That’s 18 points left on the board. Then we wouldn’t be talking about red zone issues. I said the same thing last year with Teddy. He was awful in the red zone. Brady has some issues but I think they’re vastly overblown.

    • Obviously the new FO has only been in charge for a couple years but they have not broken from past trends.
    • Rookie Bryce: Mingo, Thielen, DJ Chark as his WRs ...we won 2 games.  2nd Year Bryce: XL is drafted and becomes Bryce's #1 target in 24...we won 5 games (kinda suprising tho) 3rd Year Bryce: Tmac is drafted and becomes Bryce's #1 with Coker in the mix in '25.. we managed to win the division and make the playoffs. ..8 wins 4th Year Bryce: TBD ..... but we do need another reliable option at the position. Maybe not at 19 (unless its Cooper or Lemon) but somewhere within the top 100.   We are one injury away from reverting back to 23-24 status or worse. And if we dont happen to get substantial gains after this draft atleast we'll have the offense in a great spot to drop in our future QB.  Tmac, Coker, Leggette, Horn Jr, Metchie. I'd be willing to rock with the above but they could def stand an upgrade. An argument could be made at TE too.
    • You're also underestimating Calipari in those scenarios. Calipari can say to a kid "I've put more impactful players into the NBA than any school over the last 20 years".  Michael Malone can tout that he was run out of the NBA for not understanding impactful players.  I wouldn't count any chickens yet on top recruiting classes and deep tournament runs.  On a side note, can't remember where, but saw some interview where the guy was saying the NBA All Star Game should be the USA vs World vs Kentucky - and then proceeded to list the players in the league from Kentucky who would legit give an All Star team a run for their money.  Pretty impressive what Cal did at Kentucky, not impressive on him not getting more nattys.
