so this loves football is where im curious... I have seen reports he was considering retiring and didnt love football. Also that the coaches had to go to his house and get him. I mean that doesnt mean his mind cant be changed...but there is a reason a team gave up on a top 10 pick after a year.

Reports aka randoms on twitters. Urban having to go to his house while Garafolo says CJ didn’t mesh with Meyer. Actual reports of Meyer having trouble getting guys to buy in.

Many of you act as if the Panthers did no homework on this kid. CJ was on their short list of guys they felt comfortable drafting last year.

I'm not so sure it was he didn't love football as much as he didn't love meyer. Being stuck in Jax for 4 years under a guy you can't get along with could make someone contemplate retirement. Some situations are just toxic. I'm not saying that's for sure what happened, but it could be possible given the off-season poo that was coming out of Jax.

Makes me wonder if they would have gone QB or OL in the first if they got him.

QB? Seriously doubt it. Having him wouldn't have changed their feelings on that front.

OL? We tried, but the guy we wanted went to Detroit and we apparently didn't think Slater was worth the #8.

Honestly, we still might have taken Horn. But if not, as I recall per Panthers Confidential we had Devonta Smith in the mix.

Urban Meyer. That's all you need to know.

    • Bryce averaged 208 yards per game with a 61% completion since coming back.  How is that top 10?
    • Actually,  what lines up with your ideas he is too short or small to be successful.? His passing completions or total yards? Bryce is going into his 13th game with a legitimate offense and good offensive coach. And during that time he went from the worst qb in the league to top 10 by the end of the year based on game production against a number of playoff teams.  And he showed that he can lead comebacks and score under pressure at the end of the game and overtime. He stayed cool under pressure and was one of the best against the blitz by year end. That is the holy grail in quarterback traits and Bryce went from crumbling under pressure to stepping up and delivering strikes down the field. Maybe it is me but those kind of qualities far out weigh a few inches or a few pounds here and there.  Everyone holds their breath when he get whacked by a 350lb linemen and exhales when he magically arises seemingly unfazed. And yeah when he is backpedalling and tosses one out there as if it is random only to float into Thielen's hand it seems just luck. Kind of like Russell Wilson years ago. But I think you are letting your past rob you of enjoying what I hope is happening which is the development of our franchise guy. And for the record I am all about bringing in competition  at all positions including quarterback.
