Nah. This team still has holes on defense that need to be addressed as well as on offense. It'll take more than a WB and 2-3 new Oline guys to compete.

Disagree. Name any team that has zero holes. You aren't even going to have pro bowl caliber people at every position. Offense: All star RB when healthy, legit starter (rookie) backup, good enough TE, excellent WR corps. Defense: Top 5 DL, legit LB corps, elite CB crew if Horn comes back healthy/CJ pans out, serviceable safety. You add a Top 5 QB to that roster and figure out the OL with another 2-3 guys to just get it in that 12-16 range you have a super bowl roster. Not saying the coaches figure it out, but just from personnel that roster gets it done.

This would be a long term move for a 25 year old elite qb. This season doesn’t matter long term. It’s what happens if he’s still on the exempt list the following season. You gotta think the org has talked to the league and also legal counsel if they’re willing to give up that much draft capital and players for one guy only for him to be banned from the league. If they didn’t and are just winging it then this will be a disaster of epic proportions. I just don’t see us doing that unless we’ve had clarity.

Winging it?! This organization had signed Teddy to that stupid contract, made a stupid trade for Sam and even exercised his 5th year option.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they are calling in telephone psychics and reading smoke signals before making decisions

Legal issues aside, I wasn't aware the NFL had a decade long contract option.🤔

Just because he gets traded to a team doesn't mean he'll stay there past his current contract. Adding to that, giving up what the Texans want for him would be a major mistake while the team is rebuilding. Pulling off a huge trade for a QB is the kind of thing you do when you're ready to make that Superbowl run, not when you're trying to rebuild.

Watson is still a young QB, so any trade with him in mind doesn't have to be about a team that's immediately ready to compete. It appears that most of the detractors here just don't want to acknowledge that acquiring Watson is about the long game. Sure, there is risk. But, Tepper doesn't fear risk, he built his success upon it.

    • I just don't think some guys have it. Darnold has the panic gene. I don't think there's any fixing it. He looks really good as long as the play develops as drawn up or if he gets pressured immediately and has to go to his check down right away. It's when he has decent protection and his first read isn't open and he's standing back there in the pocket with that panic slowly building. That's when he does disastrous poo.
    • based on the QBs drafted #1 comparison thread, he’s right where he should be. if your expectations were to have a rookie lead us to the playoffs without an OL and WR corps, maybe your expectations were a bit off.
    • at some point, though, you just have to suck it up and accept it and deal with the bad deal you got.  you go through funks where you keep making mistakes and hope that you get it figured out sometime soon, but in the learning process you realize you could have done some things better but you're stuck with decisions you make. you have two choices...whine about it or just brush it off and hope can make the situation you put yourself work. i know a lot of people in here have probably never experienced or dealt with failure much in their lives, but i have and i learned to just suck it up and try to make the best of the situation you've got yourself in because you realize that you're stuck with it for a while. doesn't do any good to keep harping over what you wish you had done better. you already know that. now it's just about moving forward from here and making the best of it and hoping you can make something of it. it's the easiest thing in the world to look at where Bryce falls short...and yes, that was intentional. everyone knows that and all that is done is beating that horse laying on the ground. what takes some work is trying to see how it can work and if they have done and are doing things to help the situation get better.
