Well of course he drops back too quick.  If he doesn't, his linemen would be being pushed back over him otherwise.

Was surprised I had to scroll as far as I did to find this comment.

Knowing how bad the offensive line is/was, that play design looked terrible. We should have been dialing up quick routes that allowed Darnold to throw after a 3 step drop. Anything more behind that line and you can pretty much guarantee a sack or the QB having to run for his life. If we needed longer developing routes, bootlegs should have been utilized more. Hardly saw any dialed up the past 2 years.

I feel bad for him. He’s basically had below average coaching his entire career. The staff at USC was terrible while he was there. Then Gase was obviously a disaster. Then he comes here and it honestly looks like Joe Brady is completely in over his head.

I’m assuming McAdoo doesn’t want to try to resurrect his career so he’s got his eye on a rookie. But Darnold does have talent. We saw it firsthand in the first few games. The problem isn’t the talent it’s the mentals. His footwork gets shaky, he forces bad throws. Idt you can fix that. That’s confidence and the best NFL QBs don’t care about their mistakes. They just move on and make a play the next time. His mistakes just seem to compound.

He's earned $49,365,708 so far in his nfl career...I think he will be ok.

The people wanting to draft a QB at 6 are probably also the people who thought Darnold was basically a rookie.

Idk from what I've seen the folks who would like a QB in this draft seem to realize the desperation of the situation. Most of the Darnold lovers if there are any left want an LT. And to be clear I would very much be okay with taking one of the top tackles at 6. But if all that awaits us in September is Sam Darnold I cannot abide. That is as clear of a guaranteed signal as you can get to the 52 other players on the roster that the '21 season is a waste. That's a tough outlook for guys who are in their prime. I'm not saying a rookie QB or a FA quarterback we could pickup will be a fix all or make us playoff contenders but I think it would be a hell of a lot better than watching a rerun of last years offense.

This is my thought. Darnold plus LT at 6 and we still suck on offense. A rookie QB at least gives us hope and intrigue on offense. Rhule is going to change up the QB spot. A rookie might be the easiest to recover from as well…

I just don't know if I can sanction Darnolds buffoonery for another season. Even if it gets us a franchise QB. I think even with our o-line we could of gotten 7 or 8 wins if Darnold was half-way decent. He just got worse and worse as the season went on. Still can't believe Rhule put him in for the last 2 games like he gave us a better chance to win. Not that I wanted us to win at that point.

I would rather wave the white flag than take a QB at 6.

If you go by what Fitterer said in his press conference he went to great effect to explain how it's easier to build a complete team and then drop in a qb, how it's more attractive to have a complete team. Key words not to ignore.

If there's one thing Orlovsky is qualified to comment on, it's subpar QB play.

LITERALLY though.  I never knew so much about bad player evaluation until Matt Millen came along.  Just watching his decision making and why each guy didn't work out was eye opening and enlightening.

Cam Newton isn't a hof qb.

He wasn't ever a top 5 qb in the league

He also wasn't even the best of his generation.

He was a very good player for us but that's it.

Well he technically was the best QB in the league for at least 1 season. He was voted, by his peers, as the number 1 player in the entire NFL in their Top 100.

He was the best QB for a year?

By what metric are you basing that on?

I'm not a Darnold fan, but he's just 24 years old. Would it be insane to give him 5 games w McAdoo to see if he can get it together? I'd take Minshew over him any day of the week but I doubt Philly is gonna let him go. Take the best tackle at 6, suck it up and coach the guy you decided just needed to be in a better situation to flourish. If you dump him now you didn't provide a better situation for him, if you can't make him better then your evaluation skills of the player/your own coaching skills are a fireable offense. Clean house next year if they can't make Darnold work with this rebuilt O-line

This is what you get for hiring a 12 year old quasi red head who could have won a natty at LSU blind. Thanks Joe.

    • Skjei is priority number one but I have my doubts that we’ll give him $7M. As for Necas, Buffalo appears to be interested. I’d target Byram.

    • Solid first half against a good LA team. Joao Pedro is getting cooked a bit but the defense overall is playing well and Kahlina has been sharp. Also, love watching Big Pat cook.
