Sam Darnold

Its nice to see a fan base tee off on a guy before giving him any chance at all to succeed. When CMac was not injured and starting, Sam was 3-0, including a win over New Orleans. CMac gets injured, several OLinemen get injured, and all of a sudden we are playing musical chairs with the lineup. We haven't had two weeks in a row with the same starting lineup. Now he goes 0-4 and the fan base turns on him.  Soon we get McCaffrey back along with some injured O Linemen so let's see what we have. I am not a fan of trading for Watson, giving up multiple 1st round picks and becoming the Jaguars. He would destroy our salary cap, cause us to have to trade or cut numerous starters and handicap us from being able to build through the draft. Time to concentrate in FA and the draft to fix the OLine.  I think Sam will be fine if we build around him. No one can win behind this line, not even Watson.

As far as CMac, here's a suggestion. Emmitt Smith used to bulk up and hit the weight room hard as well. He began to have some hamstring issues each year until be began Yoga. It is essentially stretching exercises. I think it would be very beneficial for him and his ability to stay on the field.

Darnold has terrible decision making. And he's too slow even when he makes the right decision, causing windows to close.  There are other offensive problems and maybe he could some day have been servicable if we didn't have this bad an OL... But that isn't reality. He's done.

Right. He would need an elite defense and top 5 line to lead a team to anything resembling a successful year.  If any game falls on his shoulders hes losing it 99 out of 100 times.

3 for 7 = 99%? You guys overlook the fact of how important CMC is to, not only the team, but our genius OC. When he’s out, it effects all facets of the game plan and it definitely shows. Or maybe you could name someone who hasn’t sucked in his absence?

We won the first three in spite of him. And if your entire season depends on an injury prone running back staying healthy you are doing it wrong.

That was my whole thinking as well. Im the type of person to even put wins in perspective. Darnold did enough but it was nothing over the top or super impressive.  I felt like offensively it should have been a way better showing and darnold was showing flaws then far as not seeing open receivers and missing them when he did. I just thought it would catch up soon.

At this point he would have showed more positive signs despite the team injuries.

He’s making mistakes that franchise QBs don’t make at any stage. He’s out there throwing dumb dumb picks.

Dude is Shane Falco without the badass redemption arc.

Even if we were at full strength Darnold was going to be tested at some point. And since we can’t mask his flaws he’s just going ahead and showing us he’s going to hold the team back.

Had to pie the Shane Falco reference.

Check the stats. Through 3 games, he completed 68% of his passes, averaged 300 yards a game and had a passer rating of 100. Then he lost CMac and had injuries on the OLine.

He wasn’t actually playing good.   But yeah, we could overload CMC then vs some really bad teams….and essentially ask much less of Sam.

he is a 4th year vet.    Daniel Jones had less help than Sam last week.   Yet he makes Sam look bad.

Yeah that was horrible and I seen him miss a TE later in the game for a first down. He had time and guy was WIDE open guess what straight to the ground. I went to all the home games he will never be a franchise qb. He looks scared and confused a lot of times. Sorry but I’m done with that.
