But Joe Brady is still the offensive coordinator

Well, Brady is a "boy genius" of an OC so this should be pretty easy, right?

The reality is Brady has worked some zone read into his plays the past few years with Teddy and Sam.  That's now a much more important aspect of the playbook.  Cam can still make all the throws so as soon as Brady and Cam get on the same page, there should be zero training wheels.

Honestly, the team needs to let Cam be Cam.  Don't pull him unless he's hurt.  If he has a bad game, let him bounce back.  No more training wheels.  Heck, Brady should be thrilled at this development!

Ya simplify the playbook as much as they can for the next few weeks while Brady develops a book conducive to Cam. Not the other way around they have with the past two quarterbacks playing what Brady wants. Let cam control the offense. It’s really Brady’s and possibly Rhules only hope of sticking around.

Maybe Rhule is already out the door back to college after this season anyways and that’s why Cam said ya he’ll come back.

We really don't need to Cam to be all zone read though. That's where we got into trouble in the first place.

I'd like to see Cam simply take over Darnolds responsibility  and see how much better the offense can run.

I don't think we'll be back to Cam getting 20 carries a game, but I do think the strategic use of the zone read is going to help slow defenses down and open up the rest of the offense.  He'll also be the redzone threat he's always been.

I have no doubt that Cam can do anything Darnold could do, just better.  God, if he cut down on the turnovers, got us 3 more 3rd down conversions a game, that's MILES better than Sam.

    • Brandt's comment about Wharton was from his KC perspective when Wharton was a UDFA rookie.   "it goes back to the anecdote that Brandt Tillis had when he was in Kansas City. And it would be so easy to just cut Turk Wharton in 2020 when he was an undrafted rookie from a division two college in Missouri. It would been so easy to cut him because then he would have cleared waivers easily. No one knew this guy. They didn't have any joint practices, didn't have a preseason. Would have been so easy to cut him and bring him back on the practice squad and let him continue to build from there. And Brandt essentially said, "No, he's got to make the 53man roster if we're going to have any sort sense of credibility with this team."
    • Plenty of us were scratching our heads about that signing at the time. Especially with our 3-4 defense. Wharton is kind of a one trick pony situational five tech DT. He doesn't have the beef to hold up against the run and he doesn't have the juice to shift outside. He's basically a situational pass rusher DT. If we paid him $40M+ and he can't start for a historically inept defense then holy poo...
    • Agreed.  300 and 2 or 3 total in Jacksonville in a winning effort would sure be a nice start.
