You know this thread is going to get boxed in like ten seconds, so I might as well point out that one of the most celebrated players in NFL history, Pat Tillman, was an atheist.

When the military trots his memory out there to glorify themselves (uh... I mean "him") they also leave out that inconvenient fact that he was killed by friendly fire.

And people love to commemorate his “martyrdom” yet never get into the details of his death.

If the media would have left The Golden Calf of Bristol alone I do think he could of been a backup QB in this league.  Maybe a gadget red zone insertion here or there.

The Skip Bayless type folks that just lied about The Golden Calf of Bristol and made him miserable to bring on your roster…killed what would have been a solid Clipboard Jesus career (minus the hair but plus the Jesus swag).

Yea its the distraction excuse with both Kap and The Golden Calf of Bristol. They both bring a bigger fanbase/"circus" than their talent would demand. Both could be on rosters and Teebow would be strictly a goal to go guy like Mike Alstott or something but could be a threat in the RZ. Kap more of a normal backup QB.

A lot of people tend to forget when talking about Kaep that he OPTED OUT of the last year of his contract.  Not like, club declined it, but he opted out.  "Nah, I'm good".  That part always told me everything I needed to know about him.

For The Golden Calf of Bristol, doesn't it really say everything when your old college coach won't even give you a roster spot?

The NFL is one place where ability will almost always trump any other consideration.  If you are good enough you will have a place to play.  VONTAZE BURFICT stayed in the league.  MICHAEL VICK got a second chance.  What does Shannon Sharpe always say?  "If you play good, they pay good"

Both would be in the league if it wasn't for off-field stuff and ego. Kap is definitely backup/marginal starter caliber. Denver offered him a contract reflecting of that. He was insulted by it. The Golden Calf of Bristol could definitely be a gadget player for someone. Sean Payton offered him the initial shot at what would ultimately become Taysom Hill's role. He had no interest. He only wanted to be a pure QB. Then he finally took a shot at TE for his old college coach when he was past his athletic prime.

The folks who want to pretend like it's all conspiracy theory about these guys for political/social reasons have to ignore a lot of reality.

Yeah good point on both. Kap could be a backup but him being a distraction and the calls for him to start by his followers make that a poor choice for any team, not even factoring in his salary and playing time demands which are absurd.

The Golden Calf of Bristol is not an NFL caliber QB. Not even as a gadget player like Taylor Hillsom. Taylor Hillsom who can barely throw is 10x the passer The Golden Calf of Bristol ever was. Maybe he could have stuck around as a TE but I kinda doubt it. He’s athletic but there are plenty of other more athletic freaks that teams try at TE who don’t make it. But yeah he’s a massive distraction too as we saw when his Jags jersey was the top seller after he signed there. Not worth it.

    • This season only ends one way... We win this Sunday. Bryce is decent. We take back 1st place...   Only to then get our brakes blown off in the last two weeks.
    • Here's one of the most maddening things, that will be shown in full light over the next three weeks. The same people around here that called Darnold a bum and Mayfield a washed up over draft are also the ones saying Bryce is a catastrophe. Yeah, and I've been one who said Bryce wasn't big enough, brave enough or capable enough. I said back in the day that Darnold had a lot of fight in him and got shouted down. And on Mayfield, heck I didn't know, I just knew we had a very, very bad team that was run terribly. But I saw both of those guys go out there and resurrect their careers and be play-off bound since shaking the Carolina clay dust off their cleats. And we sat there and cat called their cars as they pulled out of the parking lot, laughing at what nobodies they were. Over the next three weeks, those two guys may just serve us sh!t sandwiches and then settle down to their just desserts. And then we'll probably let Bryce go off into the realm of other teams. And when that happens, will we see him coming back, better than before and we're left to re-sit this cycle all over again? Same naysayers, same results, same revolving carousel of ponies and pundits?  Will we end up looking like the Temu version of the San Diego Chargers back in the day watching Drew Brees come to fruition in the previously moribund Superdome while we whiff on a Manning pick just to be jilted for Phillip "Always a Bridesmaid" Rivers?
