Parsons, Fields, Slater

So glad the panthers picked CB at 8 when that position is easier to retain (Djax) or obtain (Henderson/Gilmore) or find UDFA (Taylor) and we passed up Parsons, Fields, Slater.    So fuging stupid to pass on positions we needed and that are harder to obtain.  Horn is great but just the last 4 months showed us how it’s easier to get a DB than it would to get QB, LT, or a stud linebacker.

We couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down in 2020 and when Horn was playing we got off the field on 3rd down

The number if fuging threads about “iF tHe pAnTheRs dRaFt a Lb”

Slater would have been a good pick as well but Panthers thought 3rd down was the biggest issue

Fields wouldn’t be doing any better behind this line.

I hate the shoulda coulda woulda. Horn looks to be a good corner and it sucks he got hurt but you can thank the Texans shitty turf for that.

2 things here:

1. Our staff is fuging retarded if they think getting off the field on 3rd down is a bigger need then protecting the qb

2. Our staff is fuging retarded since they didnt have Slater on the board for tackle because of his "Short arms"  As of today Slater is grading out at 82 on PFF as a damn rookie that started the season at LT.  Almost 10 points higher than Sewell.

The philosophy and mindset of this organization needs a damn re-do already

A lot of folks are forgetting how good Horn actually was playing.

It’s hard to tell considering WHO he was playing. I look forward to seeing him against elite QBs and WRs. I think he will be great, but a top 10 pick on CB isn’t really a franchise changer.  Like the Lions recently, Broncos last year, Jags with Ramsey, and Cards with Peterson have shown us. OL or QB should have been the pick with several options available. Slater would have been the safest, followed by Mac, with Fields having the most potential IMO.

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
