Mike Florio: Could Jim Harbaugh be an option

Tepper can make an offer he can't refuse.

Anybody who can come into the NFL as a head coach and dominate like he did AND get to the Superbowl!?

Unlike all these other names you KNOW Harbaugh can coach in the NFL. Most of these other guys are a crap shoot.

THIS man is the truth...

Harbaugh would be an improvement over the current coaching staff but I don’t love it. Doug Pederson or Matt Eberflus are my first choices

Eberflus would be nice but I want an offensive coach.  I guess I should clarify, an offensive who actually knows what they’re doing.  OL was supposed to be Rhule’s thing and, wow.  What a mess.  That’s why I want Hackett from Green Bay as my #1.  He’s been OC few different places, knows the NFL game.  I think he would be our best shot for long term success.  Harbaugh would be great for a few years but would wear thin

So Harbaugh says he has no interest, but the first post is that we could get him?

He might eventually come back to the NFL, but I don't think he would come here now.  He would want a situation where they have a established qb and a solid framework.  At least I would if I were him.

Or the first overall pick with a very good QB class to pick his preference from... I could see that being tempting to someone like him.

I have a buddy who is a huge Colts fan but isn't high on Eberflus. Apparently, the guy goes soft zone with a lead and his D has blown double digit leads multiple times this year alone.

Also, if you look at Indy, they are the same 'run the ball, play great defense, QB don't give the game away' style favored by Fox/Rivera/Capers.

Pass on Harbaugh. Unlike his brother, he hasn't been able to lead a team to a title.

I mean, how much time did he have? How many years did it take his brother to win (if we're using that standard)?

Come on, man, in two seasons, he had his team in the Super Bowl.

I wanted him when Rivera was let go. He inherited a mess from Singletary’s Niners and flipped them into Super Bowl contenders. That Niners team hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2002, in 2011 (his first year) they lost the NFC championship in OT to the Giants. He had them in the Super Bowl the following year. He didn’t get along with the owners and was forced out. His last year he went 8-8 knowing he was going to be leaving.
I’ll take it up a notch and say Jim Harbough with a top LT drafted and Mariotta playing QB (similar skillset to Kap) would make for a promising year. Then we can grab KJ Jefferson the next year in the draft and I’ll be thrilled.

Mike Singletary "built" the 49ers team, Harbaugh came in and got production out of the QB position in a way that Singletary couldn't.  Also, its interesting how many 49ers walked away from football and how the entire empire collapsed when the NFL approved HGH testing.

Jim Harbaugh has always struck me as a huge prima donna.  I wouldn't be all that keen having him strut around the Carolina sidelines for a few seasons before his schtick wore out.

I think he's a college-only guy since there he can bully players and get away with it.  And the teenagers are "awed" by him as a major deity at football-crazy U Michigan.

Yeah that 6-10 Niners team that hadn’t seen the playoffs in the previous 8 years…

You guys need to stop taking every comment so seriously. Between the post you quoted and the Beverly Hills cop gif, I was thinking some would see it was mostly done in jest.

    • well, he all but indicated that in his press conference   He wanted his passing offense to ‘come alive’  however, there  where so many mistakes on offense besides Bryce, per film review done by some podcasters I respect in the All 22   Young, missing reads, throwing off his back foot continuously, late with throws    We are in year 3….enough receivers and Young thinking it’s one route and it was another  Tet dropping critical passes…I’ll tell ya, I’m over this one.  Top 10 pick, pretend you are Malik neighbors or Jefferson and catch the damned ball …and the ever so popular Legette, ballerina that he is, stepping out of bounds,,again they need a veteran receiver out there and they don’t have it…I get the concept of wanting young and the receivers to grow together but young has to grow first, and it is ending year 3   One thing about Thielen, he was always where he was supposed to be, he seldom dropped passes and he had no problem keeping his feet in bounds  What these guys do in practice together, no idea
    • If you trot Brycie out there again next year or pick up his option there will be some serious dissention among the troops. Who is going to put forth effort while getting their bodies busted up only to know we really don't have a chance at winning. They know he is terrible. I only  saw 2 wins on the schedule at the beginning of the year and our record is a fluke. I'm as surprised as anybody. Trying to win with Brycie is like trying to win the Daytona 500 in a Ford Escort.
    • Honestly, with McVay as HC and Matt having the year of his life, Williams doesn’t matter I've watched the rams a lot this year and the line gives ,Matt time, puca and davante are constantly open and if they aren’t the TEa are. McVay  plus a healthy stafford equals Super Bowl if that defense can hold up
